iTunes (finally) introduces Complete My Album
On the couple dozen times I've bought songs from the iTunes Music Store, the fact that I'd have to rebuy the same songs again to complete an album definitely stopped me from buying any more tracks from the same albums. Now Apple has introduced "Complete My Album," their answer to this issue. You get $0.99 off for each song off an album you've already purchasing. Brilliant move.

Culturally significant words and phrases from The Simpsons
A fantastic look at the words and phrases from The Simpsons that have made their way into popular use.
Cromulent means valid, acceptable, or possibly commonplace, coined by David X. Cohen for the Simpsons episode "Lisa the Iconoclast"; embiggen, more obviously, means to grow in size.
When schoolteacher Edna Krabappel hears the Springfield town motto, "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man," she comments she'd never heard of the word embiggens before moving to Springfield. Miss Hoover, another teacher, replies, "I don't know why; it's a perfectly cromulent word".

Weird but funny cross-promotion between Napoleon Dynamite and the new animated movie Robots.

Reel Life: Friday Night Lights
Not a new article by any means, but I saw it last night and thought it was good enough to post anyways. I read Friday Night Lights twice when I was younger, but that was a long time ago so it was nice to see a good comparison between the book and the movie. I remembered the Boobie Miles info and that the team didn't really make the finals but a lot of the other stuff wasn't so obvious.

More Xbox 360 details
In what I think is another bad move (not including a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD optical drive being the other), it seems the next Xbox will come in two flavors, with and without a harddrive. It'll make it next to impossible for game developers to make games that take advantage of it, since a good portion of owners won't have one.

Broadcast flag could be on thin ice
Sounds like there could be at least some discussion in courts and legislature before the FCC is allowed to enforce the broadcast flag.

Mark Cuban on the broadcast flag
I'm almost a Mavericks fan solely based on my sincere respect for Mark Cuban. Almost everything he writes on his weblog is intelligent, well thought out, and in line with my views.

Xbox 360 this October??
That's way too soon. There's still enough life in this generation to milk it for more money. Plus by coming out too early they're going to have to skip the HD-DVD or Blu-Ray and put good old fashioned DVD player in the thing.

National Lampoon tests simultaneous release, almost
National Lampoon's new movie Blackball
will be released in theaters and to DVD within a week of each other. Very interesting to see if bigger movies start doing this. Would I rather pay $16 to see a movie in the theater or $4 to rent it or at most $20 to own the DVD?
I can't see people with good home theater set-ups going to the real movie theater much anymore if this takes off.

Xbox 360?
Still just rumor, but it looks like the next Xbox may be called the Xbox 360.
Wonder if that is a reference to some technology or just a big number?

Sony PSP to launch March 24th!
Sweet. Looks like I'll be picking up my brand new PSP on March 24th. I hope since I pre-ordered ages ago I'm considered one of the first million and get Spidey 2 for free.

TiVo's Home Media Engine launched
TiVo has officially launched the Home Media Engine SDK. The kit will allow developers to write their own software to be run on TiVo boxes, things like RSS news feeds and weather updates won't be far behind.
Should be some exciting stuff coming out soon for TiVo owners.

Peerflix

A really cool idea for those of us that tend to buy too mand DVD's. Peerflix allows you to trade the movies you don't want anymore to someone else in exchange for new movies you do want.
There's no monthly fee so you can use as often or as little as you like, just pay a dollar per trade. Right now when you sign up you get two DVD's completely free. I'll be sure to post my thoughts on the service once I've used it for a while.

Blockbuster ditching VHS?
Rumor has it the Blockbuster is about to stop selling or renting VHS tapes in stores. About damn time. I'm sure you'll hear complaints, but they'll all be moronic. You can easily find a DVD player for less than $40 these days, if you can't afford that you shouldn't be paying four bucks to rent movies at Blockbuster either.

Zach Braff's Garden State Blog

Garden State was awesome, Scrubs is the best show on television, and Zach Braff has his own weblog on TypePad. No wonder I have a man crush on the dude. His weblog is pretty damn funny, too bad he doesn't update very often lately. Hopefully he's busy writing more movies and episodes of Scrubs.

Jessica Simpson's dad likes her boobs
This dude is starting to creep me out more and more. Check out this quote:
She just is sexy. If you put her in a T-shirt or you put her in a bustier, she's sexy in both. She's got double D's! You can't cover those suckers up!
Um... that's not normal.
Update: Here's what he had to say about Ashlee's acting career:
She's going to be a huge movie star. She's like Meg Ryan or Cameron Diaz, with probably more depth. When we're done, she'll play it all.
So not only is he a pervert, but he must be on drugs too!

Blockbuster sorta drops late fees
Blockbuster rentals will still have due dates, but now you have a one week grace period after that to get the video in before they sell the movie to you. Pretty cool, but not really a complete abolishment of late fees like they're claiming. It will at least let me avoid those damn times when I have to wake up early and drive the wrong direction to return a video before work. (via Gizmodo)

ESPNU coming March 4, 2005

ESPN is launching a multi-media college sports television network on March 4th, 2005. The very first week will include men's and women's NCAA tournament games. I better get DirecTV and ditch crappy Grande by then.

Nice to see Netflix is adding features to distinguish itself from other similar services. You can now invite friends (both current Netflix users and people who aren't) to share their movie lists with you. You can see what rating they gave movies and see what movies they've seen.

I love the MPAA
Whoops, I guess I should keep my mouth shut about BitTorrent and the MPAA and RIAA. I take back everything I said here, here, here, here, and oh yeah here. It was all lies.
Oh, and those mean things I said here and definitely here? You knew I was just kidding, right? Are we still homies?

TiVo Season Pass Top 100
A list of the top 100 programs that TiVo owners have Season Passes for, plus a list of the top 25 rated programs.
The shows on there that I've got on my list:
- Lost
- Joey (for Christina)
- ER
- Nip/Tuck
- Scrubs
- 24
- The Simpsons
- Sex and the City (reruns on TBS for C)
- The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
- Chappelle's Show
- South Park
- The OC
It's nice to see "Lost" doing so well, but it is kind of disheartening to see all the reality crap on there. The same morons out there that are watching "Survivor" are deciding today's election. Scary. (via PVRblog)
