Napoleon Dynamite vs. Fender
Weird but funny cross-promotion between Napoleon Dynamite and the new animated movie Robots.

Reel Life: Friday Night Lights
Not a new article by any means, but I saw it last night and thought it was good enough to post anyways. I read Friday Night Lights twice when I was younger, but that was a long time ago so it was nice to see a good comparison between the book and the movie. I remembered the Boobie Miles info and that the team didn't really make the finals but a lot of the other stuff wasn't so obvious.

More Xbox 360 details
In what I think is another bad move (not including a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD optical drive being the other), it seems the next Xbox will come in two flavors, with and without a harddrive. It'll make it next to impossible for game developers to make games that take advantage of it, since a good portion of owners won't have one.

Broadcast flag could be on thin ice
Sounds like there could be at least some discussion in courts and legislature before the FCC is allowed to enforce the broadcast flag.

Mark Cuban on the broadcast flag
I'm almost a Mavericks fan solely based on my sincere respect for Mark Cuban. Almost everything he writes on his weblog is intelligent, well thought out, and in line with my views.

Xbox 360 this October??
That's way too soon. There's still enough life in this generation to milk it for more money. Plus by coming out too early they're going to have to skip the HD-DVD or Blu-Ray and put good old fashioned DVD player in the thing.

National Lampoon tests simultaneous release, almost
National Lampoon's new movie Blackball
will be released in theaters and to DVD within a week of each other. Very interesting to see if bigger movies start doing this. Would I rather pay $16 to see a movie in the theater or $4 to rent it or at most $20 to own the DVD?
I can't see people with good home theater set-ups going to the real movie theater much anymore if this takes off.

Xbox 360?
Still just rumor, but it looks like the next Xbox may be called the Xbox 360.
Wonder if that is a reference to some technology or just a big number?

Sony PSP to launch March 24th!
Sweet. Looks like I'll be picking up my brand new PSP on March 24th. I hope since I pre-ordered ages ago I'm considered one of the first million and get Spidey 2 for free.

TiVo's Home Media Engine launched
TiVo has officially launched the Home Media Engine SDK. The kit will allow developers to write their own software to be run on TiVo boxes, things like RSS news feeds and weather updates won't be far behind.
Should be some exciting stuff coming out soon for TiVo owners.

Peerflix

A really cool idea for those of us that tend to buy too mand DVD's. Peerflix allows you to trade the movies you don't want anymore to someone else in exchange for new movies you do want.
There's no monthly fee so you can use as often or as little as you like, just pay a dollar per trade. Right now when you sign up you get two DVD's completely free. I'll be sure to post my thoughts on the service once I've used it for a while.
