The Simpsons Season 6 alternative packaging

December 31, 2005 at 03:29 PM

The Simpsons - The Complete Sixth Season is packed into a case that looks like Homer's head. It's actually nice looking but just doesn't match the other seasons at all and doesn't look good from the side while sitting on the shelf. To make matters worse, it's terribly difficult to actually open and get a disc out when you want to watch it. Fortunately, Fox has a website up where you can find out... Continue reading

A black guy on the O.C.

December 01, 2005 at 08:01 PM

I had to check the TiVo show desciption to make sure it was really The O.C. Seriously, I can't remember a single other black character on the show. Ever. Or a Hispanic person not from the ghetto. Are there even any Asians? You know they do make sheltered, privileged, over-botoxed people of other skin colors. What do you call a black guy flying an airplane? A pilot, you racist!... I am too attractive for Mischa Barton

November 07, 2005 at 09:58 PM

Apparently, Mischa Barton likes unattractive guys. Really, really ugly dudes. I mean not just ugly, but creepy and homeless ugly. Did I mention that she has bad taste in men? Though I'd need to stop getting hair cuts or bathing or going to the gym if I wanted a shot, I'd probably still have to pass since she annoys the heck out of me on The O.C.... Continue reading

TiVo debuts Overlap Protection

November 03, 2005 at 06:23 PM

TiVo has debuted an unfortunately needed new feature with their latest service update: In the past, if two of your favorite shows overlapped by a minute or two, you could only record one or the other. Now, with Overlap Protection, your TiVo box can record both shows back-to-back by clipping just enough from the end of the first show or the beginning of the second show, based on which has the higher Season Pass priority... As much as I hate to admit it...

September 25, 2005 at 09:48 PM

I'm one of the biggest Simpsons fans out there, I grew up watching it and think it's one of the funniest, smartest shows of the last 15 years, but The Family Guy is just lightyears funnier right now. It's not even close. It's more over the top hilarious and it's also the master of subtle, intelligent humor.... Continue reading

Why aren't there any sitcoms anymore?

September 20, 2005 at 07:58 PM

We've finally seen a slight decrease in the number of horrible reality shows on television (or maybe at least there are fewer new ones coming this season.) There were even several great dramas last season like Lost and 24. This season looks promising too, I'll definitely be checking out Invasion tomorrow when it premieres. But what's missing from all this? Sitcoms. There's Scrubs and a few complete pieces of crap on the WB and that's... Continue reading

Paul Giamatti tidbit

August 26, 2005 at 10:29 PM

I had no idea Paul Giamatti (of Sideways fame as well as Cinderella Man, easily the movie of the year) was the son of the late A. Bartlett Giamatti. The elder Giamatti was briefly commissioner of Major League Baseball and permanently banned Pete Rose from the game before passing on five months into his tenure.... Continue reading

Xbox 360 prices set at $299 and $399

August 20, 2005 at 02:40 PM

Microsoft has offically confirmed the price rumors we've been hearing for a while now, there will be a base version for $299 and a premium version with a hard drive for $399. The base version will include everything most gamers will want to have: the console, one wired controller, and the basic power and A/V cables you'll need to get started. The premium version ups the ante by including a 20 GB hard drive, one... Continue reading

NCAA 2006 rosters

July 11, 2005 at 07:20 PM

A lot of people got NCAA 2006 early, unfortunately I wasn't one of them. The great thing is that there are already people hard at work cranking out the updated rosters with the real players' names. Normally it would take a couple of days after release to get them ready, now I can start my dynasty right away. If you want the rosters, you can head over MaddenMania for the PS2 roster file or... Review: MVP Baseball for the PSP

June 03, 2005 at 07:45 PM

MVP Baseball for the PSP is a good but not great game and the majority of reviews agree. The game's release date was pushed back several times, but a lot of flaws (some glaring) remain. A lot of untapped potential that will hopefully make next year's iteration of the game a great one. The gameplay and graphics are pretty decent, though I'm still getting used to hitting with the PSP's analog stick. I had... Continue reading

Gwen Stefani's asian chick posse creeps me out

May 31, 2005 at 05:41 PM

It's one thing to put some Asian girls in a music video, I mean who doesn't love an Asian girl or three? But Gwen Stefani and her pack of Japanese Harajuku girls that follow her everywhere have been bugging me for a while. She drags them around to awards shows and onto MTV, and has them on stage during performances. According to Tian, these four girls are about as far from true Harajuku style... Continue reading

Rivals.com is out of NCAA Football 2006

May 24, 2005 at 11:00 PM

I saw a rumor over at Operation Sports this morning that the deal between Rivals.com and EA Sports had fallen through. It looks like the rumors are true, as I got confirmation from a Rivals exec who said, We were informed that we wouldn't be in the game after all. That's what we know. Sounds like EA has told them the deal is off but they have not been told why. Originally, NCAA Football... Continue reading
