OutlookMT

March 20, 2005 at 10:40 PM

OutlookMT (MagicFolder) is a utility that monitors a designated Outlook 2003 folder for items. An item placed in the magic folder will be posted to the weblog specified in the settings.

Now that's pretty cool. It would seem to be especially useful to someone who uses an Outlook-integrated RSS reader and wants to post an item. See Scoble's linkblog for an example.

March 18, 2005 at 10:52 PM

I can't wait to get mine next week and tear up some Tiger Woods. I'm also starting to get really interested in Lumines, a very cool looking puzzle game.

Comcast and TiVo form partnership

March 15, 2005 at 10:15 AM

Damnit I was seriously thinking about buying TiVo stock last week, and now it's up a full 50%.

Anyways, very good news for TiVo and probably Comcast customers as well. Just one more reason I live in the one small area of Dallas not serviced by Comcast.

Peerflix gets press, funding

March 11, 2005 at 10:18 AM

I was actually interviewed via email about Peerflix for an article by someone from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism last week. I'll have to check if that makes it up on the web somewhere and whether my statements were coherent enough to use.

Read my full write up on Peerflix here.

TiVo planning TiVo-branded experience for the PC

March 11, 2005 at 08:48 AM

Would be pretty cool to have TiVo on my PC and in my living room, but I'd only really be interested if there was a ton of interaction between the two. Features like pause in one room and take over in another would be a must-have.

I can't believe businesses are paying that much money per click. I wonder how much a click on my site costs them?

25,000 hits a day. I know Jason doesn't want to put ads on his site, but he could really make a killing with AdSense with that kind of traffic.

Apple wins suit against fan sites

March 04, 2005 at 11:38 AM

That's freaking retarded. I'm sure it'll get appealed, but a moron judge ruled today that the protection that shields journalists from revealing the names of unidentified sources does not apply to websites.

How does that make any sense whatsoever? I don't know.

Future iPods could have triple the battery life

March 04, 2005 at 08:55 AM

Looks like maybe I should keep waiting before I trade in my current iPod mini. The new chipset that could be in them by Christmas could allow for up to a 54-hour battery life.

Update: Whoops, looks like the new mini's already use the new chipset. Which is why they get eighteen hours out the battery instead of the eight mine does.

PCMag reviews Flickr

March 03, 2005 at 09:30 AM

They sure seem to have gotten a lot of stuff wrong in their review.

They get the add contacts/friends/family stuff wrong and I don't think I've never seen an ad on the site. I just spent 10 minutes actively looking and couldn't find a one.
