April edition of And all that Malarkey

March 31, 2005 at 06:46 PM

Very nice temporary redesign by Andy Clarke. I love the old movie poster imagery he uses a lot. Looks great with the color scheme.

Terri Schiavo has died

March 31, 2005 at 10:01 AM

Now everyone can finally move on.

Everyone who freaked out on one side or the other can shut up and find something else to fight about. None of us knew what she wanted or had half a clue what was going on, yet you think you know better than everyone else.

Did she want to live? Did she want to die? You don't know and neither do I.

You have died of dysentery

Now that's a funny t-shirt.

Man I loved Oregon Trail, I never had it at home. I was deprived.

Must download.

Do I know this girl?

March 30, 2005 at 11:34 PM
Amanda from New Braunfels

Amanda is a Hooter's girl (well at least she didn't lie and say she's in med school) from New Braunfels in the Maxim Hometown Hotties contest. She looks familiar in the picture on the left, but I'm not sure. How come it'll say they're weight but not age, weird.

Any New Braunfelsinians recognize her?

Mark Cuban wants to build the first all-digital theater empire

March 30, 2005 at 01:34 PM

I think I'd seek out digital theaters if I had a choice. Since I'm in Dallas, maybe that'll happen sooner rather than later.

Mouse pad couch

That's thoroughly amusing. A good mousepad is really hard to find these days, mine at home has Reesey's picture on it.

I'd vote for either Joy or Emily. Maddison's parents need to learn how to spell. Two d's in Madison. Ugh.

How come none of the girls are from Arizona (well one)? There must not be any cute girls in the entire state.

Jack Thompson, ignoring all reason and evidence, links Red Lake Shooting to games

March 29, 2005 at 08:36 AM

Wow, I knew it would happen. Continual moron, Jack S. Thompson, has somehow ignored the fact that the kid was a neo-nazi who liked to create Flash animations of a person killing everyone then himself and is trying to blame the Red Lake shootings on Grand Theft Auto. You know, despite the fact that no one knows if the kid even played the game.

What more should we expect though from this guy.

Hay bales

Amazing photos on a daily basis. Somehow finds great shots like this one or this one. The photographer, Jonathan Day-Reiner, creates great shots out of amazing scenes, and has an uncanny ability to make ordinary things seem spectacular.

Forever Geek: Nerds are for Dorks

Good site for links to general geekery. Often overlaps with other sites I visit (probably because they're visiting the same sites I am), but does a much better job of posting cool links from other weblogs and small sites. Often has good links to stuff for programmers that I can't find elsewhere.

Blog Maverick

Blog Maverick: The Mark Cuban weblog

Blog Maverick is a great site for open and honest discussion from a person you wouldn't normally be able to get that from. How many billionaire, CEO, NBA owners have a weblog where they come and talk so frankly about sports, technology, and world events?

His sports posts can sometimes be a little long and whiny, but almost every single post on technology is well-written and spot on. I definitely have a lot more respect for Cuban after reading his thoughts on things. He's really an intelligent and likable guy.

Engadget

Engadget

Engadget has supplanted Gizmodo as my main source for news on gadgets and consumer electronics. Updated almost non-stop during the week, it's an amazing resource for anybody obsessed with knowing about the latest and greatest gadgets that are out there.

Unlike Gizmodo, you can also comment and participate in the discussion that follows. Other readers will often provide more useful info or links. Despite the morons that come out anytime Macs or Microsoft or the Playstation 2 or the Game Boy Advance are mentioned, allowing for this interactivity is one of the reasons the site is so great.

I've turned half the office onto the site and now we're all wasting our days away there.

PVRblog.com

Another great site from Matt Haughey, PVRblog does an amazing job reporting and discussing all PVR-related news. The site always seems to have PVR news before anyone else.

A site that all TiVo owners should bookmark immediately.

ESPN Insider: Fantasy Games blog

March 28, 2005 at 11:18 AM
ESPN Insider Fantasy Games blog

I'd love to add this to my blogroll, but I can't because there's no freaking RSS feed. ESPN.com has feeds for just about everything, but for the few items they actually call blogs they don't. Doesn't make much sense.

I'm guessing that since it's an Insider only feature, they don't want to be giving away the content. They could at least offer a feed with just the excerpts, it would encourage people to pay up to see the rest of the content and allow me to know when it was updated.

Oh well, if you're an ESPN Insider, then be sure to check them out because there's some great stuff in there. Fantasy sports junkies will especially enjoy it.

Sony responds to PSP dead-pixel reports

March 28, 2005 at 10:38 AM

I really can't decide what to do about the few dead pixels on my PSP. They're not too bothersome when playing games, but they're definitely visible during movies. Of course, for how expensive the thing is and how often/long I plan on using it, I'd rather not have any defects at all.

I guess I'll wait a couple weeks like Sony suggested, and then decide whether or not I should try to get a replacement.

Sony PSP review

March 28, 2005 at 08:43 AM

I've got to agree with everything, especially the highs and lows. I'm loving it, if Memory Stick Duo's were cheaper I'd definitely would use it for video and pictures. I haven't tried out the audio player yet, but I really don't need one.
