Tsunami photos aren't legit

January 05, 2005 at 02:11 PM

Turns out these photos aren't actually of the tsunami but the Qian Tang Jiang River, in Hangzhou, China.

PSP will probably launch in March

January 05, 2005 at 01:38 PM

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Ken Kutargi announced that they would probably release the PSP here in March. I've already preordered mine, hopefully they release a grand total of seven of them so I can sell it for a tidy profit.

SixApart buying LiveJournal

January 05, 2005 at 09:18 AM

Six Apart has purhcased LiveJournal, but what are they going to do with it? They have a ton of free users and some that pay a small fee, but nowhere near what TypePad charges.

Great looking shot of Chicago at night. Really nice color, it makes the street lights and from the buildings look particularly cool.

Fantasy Football Addiction

January 04, 2005 at 09:52 AM

Mike and Keith both had posts about their fantasy football league, and I have to agree it's one of the most fun things I've done in years. I ended up finishing third in my league, partly because the Eagles clinched so early and gave McNabb time off.

Be a UT football assistant coach

January 03, 2005 at 06:37 PM

I guess it's state law that all University job openings must be openly posted. If you want to be the next running backs coach at Texas all you have to is apply and be able to deal with exposure to large crowds.

Maybe I should apply, but I only have one year of coaching experience. Maybe I can fib a little like George O'Leary did.

43 Things

43 Things logo

Pretty cool site. The main idea behind it is that we can all improve ourselves if we focus on a set of small goals, forty-three to be exact. It's easy to browse through other people's goals, add your own, and make posts about them. You can even have it post all your entries to your MT, Blogger, LiveJournal, or TypePad weblog.

I'm using the site to power the new Goals section of my Doing weblog. It's brand new so it's still a little buggy, but hopefully it'll keep getting better.

BlogAid

I don't make a ton of money from Google AdSense on this site, but I just pledged whatever I do make during the month of January to the relief efforts in Asia.

Great idea from Andy Budd.

Jessica Simpson's dad likes her boobs

January 03, 2005 at 11:07 AM

This dude is starting to creep me out more and more. Check out this quote:

She just is sexy. If you put her in a T-shirt or you put her in a bustier, she's sexy in both. She's got double D's! You can't cover those suckers up!

Um... that's not normal.

Update: Here's what he had to say about Ashlee's acting career:

She's going to be a huge movie star. She's like Meg Ryan or Cameron Diaz, with probably more depth. When we're done, she'll play it all.

So not only is he a pervert, but he must be on drugs too!

Globe Aware

Globe Aware logo

With everything going on in the world right now, I know a lot of people are looking for ways to give back. GlobeAware is a great way to give more than money, but to actually give your time to help others. There are currently programs in Peru, Costa Rica, Thailand, Cuba, Nepal, Brazil and India.

They've even got a reality series coming up on Voom featuring the program in April. For more information about the series here is the press release. Hopefully Voom is still around by then.

Plus Christina works for them part time as a web developer, and one of my next projects will be helping with a redesign of thier site. It'll easily be my biggest task yet, because they've got a doozy of a site over there. Tons of pages and tons of content. I'll keep you updated on any progress with that.

TiVoToGo launches!!!

January 03, 2005 at 08:16 AM

TiVoToGo is officially available. You can now send recorded shows to your PC, but DVD burning is still not available. Unfortunately the Sonic MyDVD software that's going to be required is going to cost additional money, hopefully not too much.

It's perfect timing, I can send my newly recorded copy of The Rose Bowl and keep it forever.

Update: Looks like your actual TiVo box actually has to have a certain software update for it to work. You need version 7.1.x and I have something like 4.2 or so. Pretty dissappointing if you ask me. I signed up to be on the priority updates list, but it could still be a week or two before I'm ready to go.

Beware of Opening Links in a New Window

January 02, 2005 at 06:40 PM

I've gotten away from the practice lately, for one target ="blank" takes time to type and for another it's not valid in XHTML Strict.
