This thing could use a few more inputs

January 21, 2005 at 02:09 PM

This is the coolest thing I've ever freaking seen. It's got a Video 7 button for Pete's sake. SEVEN! Six digital audio ins. Mmmmmmmm... inputs.

456 Berea Street

456 Bereat Street

456 Berea Street is Roger Johansson's personal site. It's one of the better sites out there for tips and actual code on how to do cool things with web standards and CSS. His article on inverted tabs is the source of inspiration for my tabbed menu in V3 of this site.

Just a great source of information and discussion.

You suck at the Internet

January 19, 2005 at 04:06 PM

I'm not sure why, but I found this incredibly hilarious. I was talking to my boss when I saw it in someone's post at a message board, I had a hard time not busting out laughing.

Basecamp Project Management

January 19, 2005 at 03:30 PM
Basecamp logo

An amazing piece of software. I have heard people (including the creators) talking about Basecamp for a long time now, but I had never noticed there was a free version before. The free version only lets you manage one project at a time, but otherwise it's the full blown app.

Basecamp lets you track a project's major milestons, create to-do lists, send messages, share files, and pretty much everything else you could think of. You even get a unique URL where everyone related to the project can interact and work together.

Ta-da Lists

January 19, 2005 at 03:18 PM
Ta-da Lists: A part of Basecamp

Really, really handy little web app here. It's like a million times better version of an idea I was wanting to do with PHP, which kinda pisses me off because that's how I wanted to work on my PHP skills. Oh well.

Ta-da List makes it really easy to create, manage, and share a bunch of lists. A really simple, yet powerful task management system. The only thing missing that I'd like is due dates.

I'm going to do a full weblog post on this and Basecamp soon.

StealItBack - Police Auctions Online

January 19, 2005 at 09:27 AM

It's like eBay, but with stolen crap. Once stolen property is not needed as evidence and if the rightful owners can't be found, former police officers Property Bureau purchase it and auction it off. One pretty cool feature:

Private citizens are invited to register on StealitBack.com any items with serial numbers they have lost or reported stolen to their local police department. StealitBack.com will search its database, and if an item has been received from a participating department, will return the item to the police department where the theft or loss was originally reported so that it may be returned to its rightful owner free of charge.

You can even find something for that special someone in your life.

Movable Type 'nofollow' plugin

January 18, 2005 at 09:05 PM

Movable Type has officially added support for the rel="nofollow" attribute for anchor tags through a plugin. I don't plan on implementing it here on this site, I don't mind sharing a little PageRank with others. I'm sure many of the sites I frequent will implement it though, meaning my PageRank is probably going to plummet.

Hopefully, enough of the most popular weblogs put in to place and put an end to all this damn comment spam.

Asthma bong for kids

January 18, 2005 at 02:55 PM

It's actually a decent idea, make asthma inhalers more cool for kids to use. I'm not really sure that the Funhaler does that though. Which would be more embarassing, using a normal inhaler or puffing on this thing?

EA, ESPN announce 15-year gaming partnership

January 17, 2005 at 06:39 PM

This should piss off just about all of the gaming community. It's cool to hate the mainstream favorite even if it's a hell of a game. Last month they signed an exclusive deal with the NFL and the NFLPA, and now they've grabbed the ESPN brand name and personalities too.

ESPN NCAA 2006 or whatever they call is going to freaking rule.

Chizik officially joins UT staff

January 17, 2005 at 03:32 PM

Gene Chizik, the defensive coordinator for an Auburn squad that was one of the nation's premier defenses a year ago, has been named co-defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Texas. Chizik was recently named the 2004 Broyles Award winner, honoring the nation's top assistant coach.

HUGE hire for the Texas program.

Major to the Cuse

January 16, 2005 at 06:02 PM

Former Texas defensive coordinator Greg Robinson took the head coaching job at Syracuse last week and after some speculation officially named Major Applewhite his quarterbacks coach on Saturday. Congrats to Major, that's a pretty big promotion for him.

Does sIFR suck?

January 13, 2005 at 09:11 PM

I think it's pretty damn cool personally, but obviously I don't know a damn thing. He's actually saying that Flash sucks and text on the Web still sucks, despite the issue or two sIFR solves.

Good discussion follows in the comments.

UT student sued over spam

January 13, 2005 at 08:44 PM

Wow, I should spam people. These people have made hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars through this scheme. How many morons are there actually out there that fall for spam?

The dumbest part is that the article says you should look for a Web page to submit contact information. Ummm, all that would do is confirm you're a real sucker and they have your real email address.

Chizik to interview for UT def. coordinator spot

January 13, 2005 at 01:10 PM

Texas is interviewing current Auburn defensive coordinator for the same position here. I don't know much about him, but Auburn's had some great D's the last couple of years. Plus, Geoff Ketchum and Jason Suchomel seem really excited about it.
