Beware of Opening Links in a New Window
I've gotten away from the practice lately, for one target ="blank"
takes time to type and for another it's not valid in XHTML Strict.

You just can't use it in XHTML Strict because it's more presentational than content related. Just one more way to separate the content from presentation. If you want to open a link in a new window, you'd have to use a JavaScript function.
