Be a parent
A nice counter-point to the link I just posted a couple hours ago. Eric Meyer doesn't like how the some of the mommy bloggers
claim they're doing it because of the things they had to give up to be a parent. He also wonders what the subjects of these blogs (the kids) will think in fifteen years about their whole lives being permanently chronicled for the world to see.

Leta in the NY Times
Damn that kid is famous, luckily she's cute enough to deserve it.
The New York Times does an article on Mommy Blogs
, so of course has to feature Dooce.com and Leta. She talks about it here, mentioning the perils of freaking logging in to read an article on their site. She should have told her dad about BugMeNot.

Six Apart Redesign Coming
It seems Six Apart is about to release a redesign on us. Looks pretty cool from the tiny preview Mena let us see. Looks much nicer and less like the weblog that it is. The interesting part to me is that the whole thing is MT powered and they're going to write up case studies on how they did it. I really need to get down and so some PHP work on this site, could really make some stuff work much more smoothly.

TiVo's Home Media Engine launched
TiVo has officially launched the Home Media Engine SDK. The kit will allow developers to write their own software to be run on TiVo boxes, things like RSS news feeds and weather updates won't be far behind.
Should be some exciting stuff coming out soon for TiVo owners.

Canadian town wants its tsunami donation back
Tell me why all the liberals want to move to Canada again?

Listamatic
I found this before but lost it, now Cameron has reminded me again.
Great set of sample menus using unordered lists, includes the needed HTML and CSS.

Peerflix
A really cool idea for those of us that tend to buy too mand DVD's. Peerflix allows you to trade the movies you don't want anymore to someone else in exchange for new movies you do want.
There's no monthly fee so you can use as often or as little as you like, just pay a dollar per trade. Right now when you sign up you get two DVD's completely free. I'll be sure to post my thoughts on the service once I've used it for a while.

Firefox Bookmarks Synchronizer
Really cool Firefox extension if you've got a web host somewhere. It allows you to keep your bookmarks synchronized by uploading an XML data file of your bookmarks everytime you make a change. Then everytime you open Firefox it quickly downloads that file and syncs up your favorites. Exceedingly useful.

Penny Arcade on Video Game exclusivity
Penny Arcade's got a pretty funny comic on the whole EA with the NFL and ESPN contracts, and Take Two with Major League Baseball signing.

Longhorns get a commit from Metroplex lineman
Irving Nimitz offensive lineman Chris Hall committed to the Horns today. The Texas coaches are supposed to have rated him pretty high.
Hall decommitted from Oklahoma State when Les Miles ditched them for LSU.

Aggie Goat Camp
No seriously. Aggieland Goat Camp. Goat. Camp. It's just too easy.
GOATS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED, YOU MUST FURNISH YOUR OWN GOAT
For all my parents have given me, the thing I'm most thankful for is that I wasn't raised an Aggie.

CubeDoor
I don't get it. It's completely see-thru. It's kind of like a bigger, more obnoxious, Do Not Disturb
sign for your cubicle. Might be pretty useful if it was more opaque.
Or you could just be a bad ass like me and have a big wooden door to your office.

Google Video Search
I just found out about Google Video Search, I'm not sure how long it's been around but this is the first I'd heard about it.
Pretty dang cool upon first glance. They're only grabbing a few Bay Area and national channels, but it looks like they have plans to expand to other markets. Check out the help page to find out a lot more.
Definitely something I'll be following as it grows.

Scrivs sold the CSSVault
Scrivs sold the CSSVault for $XX,XXX
, I hope things over there stay as it's a hell of a CSS-based design resource. I imagine he got out a good time though, as Stylegala, CSS Beauty, and unmatched <style> are all good sites with the exact same concept.

I Stole Brad
Damn people move fast. Although I think this shirt is better than any of these, and it's unisex!
I would buy anything she told me to.

ECMAScript Menu System
Definitely something I'll be looking at for Phase 2
of the site I'm working on now. It accomplishes the same effect, but I have to add id
's to every main menu item. Even worse, I have to put some Javascript at the top of every page, which means any changes have to be made 21,324,325 times.

Blockbuster ditching VHS?
Rumor has it the Blockbuster is about to stop selling or renting VHS tapes in stores. About damn time. I'm sure you'll hear complaints, but they'll all be moronic. You can easily find a DVD player for less than $40 these days, if you can't afford that you shouldn't be paying four bucks to rent movies at Blockbuster either.

Good thing we didn't want seafood last night
Seriously, someone needs to give me the job of deciding who gets to drive and who doesn't. I'd make a maximum drive age of 60 and also have the power to just pick out individual morons I see on the streets. The world would be a safer place.

Zach Braff's Garden State Blog
Garden State was awesome, Scrubs is the best show on television, and Zach Braff has his own weblog on TypePad. No wonder I have a man crush on the dude. His weblog is pretty damn funny, too bad he doesn't update very often lately. Hopefully he's busy writing more movies and episodes of Scrubs.
