I love the MPAA
Whoops, I guess I should keep my mouth shut about BitTorrent and the MPAA and RIAA. I take back everything I said here, here, here, here, and oh yeah here. It was all lies.
Oh, and those mean things I said here and definitely here? You knew I was just kidding, right? Are we still homies?
I miss the good old days of the original Napster and even crappy AudioGalaxy. (via Jeremy Flint)

DirecTV creating their own DVR
This is probably bad news for TiVo, as 75% of their new subscribers right now come from DirecTV. If they lose that source, they'll have to come up with new ways to increase their customer base.

The other great debate
Everyone is talking about who should be ranked number 1 and number 2, and which of the three undefeated teams is going to be left out. The race for who is number 4 is actually much closer, and the consequences of being left out are much worse.

Don't delete weblogs!
I thought it was an MT-related issue or possibly something I screwed up, but as Greg over at Airbag was told it's actually an MT-Blacklist issue. Apparently Jay agrees and hopefully he will fix whatever the problem is soon.
Both MovableType and MT-Blacklist are great pieces of software that I would prefer to keep being able to use.

Texas gains on Cal in latest BCS
Texas is now only .0013 points behind Cal in the latest BCS poll released today. A loss or even a close win by them next weekend versus a crappy Southern Miss team could cause Texas to jump them and head to the Rose Bowl.

An alternative method based upon the original Style Switcher. The main upgrade is that it enables independent switching of different media types, meaning you can set up multiple screen and multiple print stylesheets and control them separately.
Seems pretty cool but the old method still looks more useful for me. I'll have to look into it a little more.

Hunt via the Internet
This is pretty ridiculous. First off, how is it any freaking fun? Either hunt in person or in an actual video game, I'm sure that would provide a more entertaing experience.
As for the morality of hunting, obviously this remote hunting idea is completely screwy. But I generally don't have an issue with hunting for food. My family hunts, but I don't. That's mainly a laziness and hating the cold decision rather than a moral one. I do have issues with people who hunt purely for sport. Those that don't use the animal for food and those who hunt more exotic animals.

Eli Manning to start for NY Giants
Eli Manning has been named the starting QB for the New York Giants this week. I'm not sure why, if the offensive line could protect Kurt Warner at all he would be having a pretty decent season. All I care about is how this affect my fantasy team. Will they give Tiki Barber the ball more? Will teams gang up to stop the run and force the rookie to beat them. Damnit there are fantasy playoffs to consider here!

Colin Powell resigns
Secretary of State Colin Powell has resigned from his position in Bush's cabinet. I imagine there will be quite the uproar from the liberals, as I think he was one of the few Republicans they could stomach.
My completely baseless theory? Powell has intentions of running for the presidancy in 2008 and wants to be able stand on his own, and not be forever linked to George W. Bush. Four years away allows him to build support from Republicans and undecided voters alike.

Interesting news. The dubious part is the first line:
A slide from a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) presentation seen by the INQ points towards Microsoft launching three versions of the Xbox 2, one of which is a fully functioning PC.
Ummmm... Why would information about the actual systems be included in the agreement? Would make more sense if it just said "Don't tell anyone about what you learn today."
Or something like that.

Okay, yeah it's a pretty lame name but it's actually usually a pretty good read. "Bevo Beat" is a blog from the Austin-American Statesman covering UT athletics. QB attempts 101 passes
Jesus, that's a lot of pass attempts in one game, the previous record was 92 attempts. I wonder how many times they ran the ball.
Lensch completed 56 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns, with three interceptions, and remarkably was not sacked. He is averaging 59 attempts and 308 yards passing this season for Dana College, a 500-student NAIA school in Blair, Neb.
To put that in perspective, Texas quarterback Vince Young has attempted 143 passes all season!

Apple doesn't want your opinion
Apple sure has been acting like a big arrogant a-hole of a company lately. First they ignored the defect in the 4G iPods, and now they've implemented a customer rating system on the Apple Store that doesn't allow you to actually rate any Apple products. Why?
Why can’t customers rate Apple products? Would you trust us to display less than perfect ratings on our own products? We didn’t think so!
Here's a nice screenshot of it from Gizmodo.

There's a quote from Kerry claiming he was at the Red Sox vs. Mets game in `86 when the ball went through Buckner's legs. I remember hearing a report claiming it was impossible for him to have been there because there was proof he was in some place else that evening.

NBA opening night snafu
Mark Cuban's thoughts on this year's Mavs team. Even more telling his thoughts on why the hell the NBA season is kicking off the same night as the election.
I won’t say what i really think about the genius that started the season on election day since it’s probably the same person that started the season on Halloween in previous years. There’s only a presidential election 1x every 4 years. We start on that day..Genius. Let’s see, which are going to get more highlights and press coverage Nov 3rd. The kickoff of the NBA season or the election. The NBA has a great idea to feature “Premiere Week” and we start it on Election Night. Brilliant.

iPod Photo problems?
You know if MS did this kind of crap people would be screaming for the DOJ to break them up.
The new iPod Photo is just a 4G iPod with a color screen so it still suffers from the same audio glitch. So now not only is Apple pretending the glitch didn't exist and not recalling the defective units, but they're releasing a whole new product with the defect in it.
Luckily Christina's iPod doesn't appear to have the issue.
