UF coach looking for a fight

October 14, 2004 at 08:31 AM

Well we may have lost to Oklahoma five times too many, but at least Mack Brown isn't wandering campus looking for a fight.

Actually I don't mind too much what Ron Zook did for his players. Sounds to me like some frat boys were talking shit and jumped some players. Zook just went back and made sure the punks knew they would be taken care of.

Plummer removes Tillman sticker

October 14, 2004 at 08:27 AM

The NFL got their way and Jake Plummer is removing the Pat Tillman "40" sticker from his helmet. Only Tillman's former team (the Arizona Cardinals) is allowed by the league to honor him, so despite the fact that Plummer played with him in college and in the NFL he's not allowed to put a small sticker on his helmet.

You Have Bad Taste in Music

You Have Bad Taste in Music

I'll admit that I'm no music afficionado. I find out about new music from the radio, MTV, iTunes, and Christina. I probably couldn't tell you what was good music, but I definitely can tell bad music when I hear it.

The guy on this site attends concerts with a bull horn and makes sure everyone is clear that their taste in music sucks. Fortunately for us, he video tapes it all for our amusement.

Of particular hilarity are the Train and Justin Timberlake/Christina Aguilera clips.

Mike Industries

October 13, 2004 at 10:42 AM
MikeIndustries.com - Mike Davidson's personal weblog

MikeIndustries.com is the homepage of web designer extraordinaire Mike Davidson. Web designer probably isn't the best term, his current job title is "Sr. Assoc. Art Director & Manager of Media Product Development". You might not recognize his name but if you check out his portfolio, you most definitely have seen his work. The guy redesigned the ESPN.com homepage for crying out loud and most of the other stuff on the site too, so you can pretty much say he's got my ideal job. Sports and web design, I'd be a happy man.

I've only been reading his weblog for a short time now but it's already become one of the first sites I check in the morning. He only updates a couple times a week but his posts are always coherent, interesting thoughts (unlike a certain other site). The site is definitely of interest to anyone who likes sports and/or web design.

Updated upwards of fifteen times a day during the week, there's not many things gadget-related it doesn't cover. Visit often and watch as your own personal wishlist grows.

Dave Shea's Mezzoblue

Mezzoblue is the personal site for Canadian web designer Dave Shea. A great source for ideas on CSS and design in general. A great example of what can be accomplished with a little CSS and a lot of creativity. Both new and more advanced web developers should definitely check it out. Dave is also the creator of the CSS Zen Garden.

Furcal begins sentence

October 13, 2004 at 10:31 AM

Rafael Furcal had a little more motivation to win the NLDS than most of the other guys did. He had to report to jail yesterday to begin serving his sentence for his DUI.

Mass Iraqi grave yields infants, unborn

October 13, 2004 at 09:50 AM

There were hundred of bodies (including women and children) and this is just one of forty possible mass grave sites in Iraq.

The body of one woman was found still clutching a baby. The infant had been shot in the back of the head and the woman in the face, the BBC reported.

So there was no reason to remove Saddam from power? He's such a nice guy, we should have just left him alone.

Pretty sweet little combo using Microsoft's Windows Media Center 2005 and Media Center Extender software on the Xbox. Looks good, probably works good, costs way too damn much. (via Gizmodo)

Chatting AIM bot

October 13, 2004 at 08:42 AM

Pretty funny, possibly pretty evil too. Have a pedophile friend? Send Stacey the 15 year old AIM bot and find out just how long it takes till he mentions the words "web cam." I'll post the conversations Christina and I had with them later. (via Engadget)

Here's my conversation with "Stacey." And Christina's boring one with Andy.

The bot doesn't seem very intelligent, I think I remember SmartBuddy or whatever that thing was called back in the day making for a more intelligent conversation. Of course with "him", we would just IM him to tell him to f*** off. College RULES!!

Network Solutions sucks

October 12, 2004 at 10:17 AM

Talk about some BS. I'm glad I haven't had any trouble with my registrar or host yet, because it seems as if issues are pretty common place with these types of companies.

Gizmodo and Gawker should sue the pants off NetSol.

Roll-up bridge

October 12, 2004 at 09:24 AM

Um, it's a pedestrian bridge that rolls up to get out of the way. Pretty sweet. It actually kind of looks like modern art once it's rolled itself into a ball.

I'd hate to be standing on it when it started it's conversion. (via Gizmodo)

Braves lose it

October 12, 2004 at 08:28 AM
Braves players upset over the loss

Braves won their division again, but it just set them up for another postseason disappointment. Something I never realized:

The Braves' first season in Turner Field was 1997, and in seven of their eight years in "The Ted" the Braves have been eliminated from the postseason at home. The lone exception was 1999, when the Braves were swept in the World Series by the Yankees, and Game 4 was played in New York.

Astros win NLDS

October 12, 2004 at 08:22 AM
Lance Berkman slides in safely in Game 5

Astros have finally won a postseason series, their first in franchise history (42 years). In fact it's the first for either Texas team, as the Rangers have also never won one.

Congrats to Lance and the rest of the Astros. I tried to root for them yesterday, but just couldn't bring myself to root against my Braves.
