October 11, 2004 at 02:40 PM

Another site redesign from the Disney group and Mike Davidson. Mike writes a little behind the scenes on what went into this major redesign.

Flickr tag: puppy

October 11, 2004 at 10:02 AM

Flick is a pretty damn cool web app that lets you share and manage your photo collections. If you make your images public and give them tags, then people can view all the most recent images with a common tag just by entering a particular URL. The best one ever is "puppy," because everyone loves puppies. (via Anil Dash)

Reebok Classic Pump Bringback

October 08, 2004 at 01:02 PM

My parents are teachers, therefore when I was younger and all the kids were getting Reebok Pumps I was getting bupkis. Somehow I didn't even get them two years after everyone else did. Maybe they stayed too popular and too expensive. Damn I was deprived as a kid.

Anyways, Reebok is bringing back the Pump in a new limited edition shoe. Maybe I can revive my NBA aspirations.

Don't be surprised if you see me walking down the street in a couple weeks wearing my new Pumps, a pair of Z. Cavariccis, and my Hypercolor t-shirt.

Good read on Chris Simms

simms_bucs.jpg

Good article on Chris Simms from Tampa Bay Online. Talks a lot about his UT days and the lessons learned. A lot of comments and quotes from Mack Brown and some current Horns. I'll definitely be watching his first career start this weekend and be rooting for him to succeed.

Google SMS

October 08, 2004 at 09:27 AM

Sweet new service from Google where you can send SMS messages from your cell phone to 46645 (GOOGL) and get back information. For example send "Starbucks 78130" and get the lone Starbucks location in New Braunfels. Pretty damn cool. (via Engadget)

Ricky wants back (again)

October 05, 2004 at 08:58 PM

It sounds like Ricky Williams has no urge to pay the $8.6 million an arbitrator told him he owed the Dolphins. He's asked his agent to find out what it would entail to get back in the league and playing for the Dolphins this season. Problem is, even if he wants back he's facing suspensions for all sorts of reasons.

Bonds introduced Sheffield to BALCO

October 05, 2004 at 01:35 PM

I really hope Barry Bonds blows out his knee mowing the lawn or something this offseason. There is no way I want this man passing Hank Aaron or even Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list.

I am getting more and more convinced that Bonds is/was on steroids, and this story from ESPN seems to be in line with that theory. Gary Sheffield reportedly told a grand jury that Bonds introduced him to BALCO and that he unknowingly used a topical steroid. Sheffield also calls Bonds an a-hole repeatedly:

The breaking point occurred, Sheffield told SI, one morning when Bonds left for their workout without him, leaving Sheffield to find his own ride to the gym. When Sheffield arrived, he found Bonds laughing at him with someone he later learned was a writer for Men's Journal.

What a class act.

Scrivs on Independent Thought

October 05, 2004 at 11:59 AM

Long read on the design/weblog community. Pretty good read as usual.

Main point is don't just accept everything someone says because of who they are in the community, and then don't just post comments like You're so awesome!" so that people will visit your site. If you have an interesting point to make, whether it's positive or negative than feel free to comment. "It sucks" is just as bad, "I hate it because..." is much more helpful.

The best way to get repeat visitors is to have quality content, something I'll have more time to work on when (if?) I ever get done with this redesign.

New GMail features

October 04, 2004 at 03:42 PM

Some pretty cool new GMail features are on their way (I don't have them yet.) RSS feed of messages and easier access to contacts are the main things I'm interested in.

Although the Firefox GMail Notifier takes care of me pretty well.

Update: Well I've got the "Contacts" option now, but still waiting for the other things.

Movies.com redesigns

October 01, 2004 at 09:10 PM

I only realized Movies.com was a Disney property a couple of months ago when I noticed that my ESPN Motion worked with their version of Motion (now called Cinequiz). It looks pretty good, nothing too major aesthetically. The major change comes in the conversion to a CSS and standards based design.
