13 Year Old Steals Dad's Credit Card to Buy Hookers

May 12, 2008 at 09:48 PM

Awesome. First thing I'd do with a stolen credit card and after winning at a video game is get me some prostitutes. Well I guess only if I'm a 13-year old boy from Newark, Texas that is: Ralph Hardy, a 13 year old from Newark, Texas confessed to ordering an extra credit card from his father's existing credit card company, and took his friends on a $30,000 spending spree, culminating in playing "Halo" on an... IGN gives Grand Theft Auto 4 perfect 10

April 26, 2008 at 12:43 AM

Only a few more days to wait... Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out April 29th and I'll have it in my hands soon after. The first review is up online and IGN.com has given the game a perfect 10. The first time in many years that they've handed out that score. Definitely the most excited I've been about playing a game in a long while. Go read the seven page written review or watch the... My Xbox 360 is dead

October 01, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Picked up a copy of Halo 3 at lunch today. Got home tonight and the wife was out so I thought I'd pop it in and get a rare half hour of game time in. I unwrap the game, check out the manual for a bit, and then excitedly put the game in my Xbox 360 to play for a few minutes before dinner. The game comes up and I spend about 30 seconds looking... The Sooners lose to Boise State again in NCAA 08

May 25, 2007 at 09:13 PM

The Oklahoma Sooners lost to Boise State in historic fashion in last year's Fiesta Bowl, and it looks like EA isn't going to let them forget it. One of the biggest features they're touting in NCAA Football 08 (due out in July) is all the new trick plays they've added to the expanded play books. To highlight the feature, they're using a clip of Boise State using the Statue of Liberty play to beat OU... Continue reading

Sony unveils PlayStation Home

March 08, 2007 at 07:39 AM

Yesterday Sony unveiled Home, their blend of Second Life, Xbox 360 Achievements, and Nintendo Mii's for the PlayStation 3. Looks incredibly cool and is one of the first things (other than Final Fantasy XIII) that has me taking a serious look at the PS3. Get more details from IGN and check out the short demo below:... EA announces NCAA Football 08 cover boy

March 04, 2007 at 10:05 AM

EA Sports has announced that former Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky will be on the cover of NCAA Football 2008. Zabransky and his Bronco teammates had a storybook season and knocked off the Oklahoma Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl in one of the most exciting college football games of the year. It was one of the more interesting stories of this season, but there's no way he deserves to be on the cover. Zabransky... Continue reading

Sony and Immersion settle, rumble coming to PS3?

March 03, 2007 at 12:04 PM

Sony Computer Entertainment and Immersion have finally reached an agreement on their patent dispute over video game rumble technology. The dispute resulted in the omission of rumble in the new Sixaxis c ontrollers, one of Sony's biggest mistakes with the PlayStation 3. The two companies have now entered into an agreement that should allow for Sony to use their technology going forward and should mean rumble will soon be available to PS3 gamers. Good news... Dell buys 1UP?

January 08, 2007 at 08:55 PM

Okay no they didn't. But Destructoid.com is claiming that Dell has bought 1UP and Electronic Gaming Monthly based on this Dell-branded page at dell.1up.com. There's definitely some sort of relationship between Dell and 1UP.com but the page sure doesn't prove Dell has actually acquired EGM and 1UP as the guys from Destructoid conclude. You only get the Dell logo and banner if you first visit the Dell landing page first and that Dell landing... Continue reading

I've got a Wii!!

January 01, 2007 at 05:32 PM

Last week Christina called me at work to let me know she'd spent $250 on her lunch break. I didn't know what she could have possibly purchased since we just had Christmas and there wasn't really anything we needed. But there was something I'd wanted! She had stumbled upon a shipment of Nintendo Wii's being stocked at Target and had quickly grabbed one before the word got out. She had tried to no avail... Continue reading

Detroit pitcher injured by Guitar Hero

December 16, 2006 at 03:35 PM

Detroit Tigers fireballer Joel Zumaya was sidelined during this year's American League Championship Series against Oakland. The 22 year old reliever pitched only a single inning during the series because of an injured forearm. Now thanks to a radio interview with general manager Dave Dombrowski we know that Zumaya's inflamed forearm came thanks to the PS2 game Guitar Hero: During the radio interview, Dombrowski said the Tigers' athletic training staff discovered that Zumaya's forearm... EA's NFL Head Coach commercial

June 22, 2006 at 07:32 AM

You know what's a bad idea? Letting Eddie George go. Get me a water. Notice a guy wearing George's old number 27 standing behind the two as they argue over the play call. Now that's funny. The game was released yesterday and is getting decent reviews, something I'd definitely pick up if NCAA Football 2007 wasn't coming out in just a few more weeks. I'm going to try to rent it from Blockbuster this... Continue reading

The Evolution of the Video Game Console

June 17, 2006 at 07:34 PM

Thumb Gods has a history of the video game console from 1972 to the present. Starts off with the Magnavox Odyssey and lists every console up to the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3. Includes Wikipedia links for more details on the consoles. My first console was in the second generation, the Atari 5200. I sure loved baseball, Defender, Dig Dig, and Pole Position. There were some great games for the system. I wonder what... Continue reading

Sony announces assault on Xbox Live

January 31, 2006 at 08:35 PM

Sony is set to announce in the Official Playstation Magazine that they'll be introducing a centralized online system with the PS3. I don't know if they'll match Xbox Live feature for feature and then some, but it's fantastic news that they're going to try. The Playstation 3 needs a unified online system and it sounds like it'll be getting one. The better each system, the more competition, the more pressure on Microsoft and Sony... Continue reading

Logitech Harmony Universal Remote for Xbox 360 Review

January 22, 2006 at 03:28 PM

Sounds like the Logitech Harmony Advanced Universal Remote for Xbox 360 is a winner. When (if?) I ever get my Xbox 360 I'll have a tough decision on whether to pick this up or not. The universal remote that came with my Kenwood A/V receiver is pretty good but a few of the buttons are starting to not work everytime you press them. The Harmony does everything you can imagine and seems easy to... Continue reading

Xbox 360 Army

October 06, 2005 at 08:22 PM

The Xbox 360 is launching on November 22nd and they actually had playable systems on the floor at X05. The photo kind of reminded me of a scene from I, Robot with all the units lined up like that. Should be a lot of exciting announcements from Microsoft over the next month or so. (via Major Nelson)... Continue reading

NCAA Football 2006 gets a cover boy

May 03, 2005 at 05:54 PM

Every other year the cover athlete has been a player who just graduated, but this year it'll be Desmond Howard. That one is definitely out of left field. Howard won the Heisman Trophy way back in 1991, did they even wear face masks back then? I guess Rashaan Salaam wasn't available. I'm sure EA wanted to promote the new Race for the Heisman mode and picking a more recent winner wouldn't work because they'd... Continue reading

First screenshot of next-gen Madden

April 18, 2005 at 06:53 PM

EA Sports is providing one screenshot per day on their site till the NFL Draft on Saturday. At which point they'll debut a 60-second preview of the next-generation of Madden Football. It will only air once. Must set TiVo. Update: Well I guess they meant it will only air on TV once, because they posted the commercial to their site. Here's the direct link. Update 2: They moved all the files so that direct... Continue reading

EA gets sole rights from NFL and NFLPA

December 13, 2004 at 09:48 PM

Well have fun playing your ESPN Pro Football or something game next year, because it won't feature and NFL logos or teams and there won't be any players from the NFLPA in it. Electronic Arts has signed an exclusive deal with them for the next five years. QB #5 of the Philadelphia Birds drops back and throws a touchdown the WR #81. Sound fun? I didn't think so. Game, set, and match to EA Sports.... Continue reading

Halo 2 and MS Excel

December 06, 2004 at 10:11 PM

I could've swore I mentioned it already, but apparently not. I did at least mention Halo 2's RSS stat feed. Well some dude came up with an Excel workbook to integrate the XML feed Bungie provides and create some sweet charts of the data. Now the info has actually found it's way into a good old fashioned paper newspaper article.... Continue reading

Halo 2 and Xbox Live own me

November 18, 2004 at 10:25 AM

In case you didn't know it, Halo 2 freaking rocks. I've always claimed that I hated first-person shooters, a claim based mainly on despising GoldenEye (the multiplayer was fun though), Metroid Prime, and the original Halo. I sucked hardcore at all three of those games and they actually made me physically sick to play them for too long. So obviously I wasn't overly excited about picking up Halo 2 when it came out, but I... Continue reading

My college football picks

Xbox roster file

July 22, 2004 at 09:15 AM

After waiting entirely too long on PS2Rosters.com for the NCAA Football 2005 roster files for the Xbox I finally found another source yesterday. The rosters weren't bad at all. No added players, no attribute changes, and no equipment changes, but most of the names appeared to be correct. I just glanced at some of the teams and they seemed fine, and Texas' roster only had one or two minor errors. Not too bad, and... Continue reading

Acclaim headed for bankruptcy?

July 02, 2004 at 01:04 PM

Acclaim used to make some pretty decent games back in the day. Arch Rivals freaking ruled old school, NBA Jam was one of the most entertaining games of my youth, and the Turok series was very well received. But now they make Mary-Kate and Ashley games, the craptastic All-Star Baseball series, and the Turok franchise has gone down the toilet. So it's little surprise that they've been losing more and more money and are headed... Continue reading

I've never understood the DDR craze

July 01, 2004 at 09:11 AM

Konami's Dance Dance Revolution has been around in arcades and on PlayStation for a long time and I have never once played it nor have I ever had the urge to. I just don't get it. It looks like an entertaining experience in the arcade, the people playing/watching seem to be enjoying themselves. Maybe it's my complete lack of rhythm. Or my utter distaste for dance music. The PlayStation and PS2 versions make even... Continue reading

PA: Full Spectrum Warrior

June 07, 2004 at 08:48 AM

More reasons to love NCAA Football 2005

June 04, 2004 at 11:14 PM

The anticipation continues to build. NCAA Football 2005 is being released on July 13th. I want this game bad. I can't wait, it's gonna be friggin' awesome. I love the game so much off-line, that I didn't play it online a ton last year. But they've added XBox Live support and other new features so I'll likely to be gaming against fellow human beings a little more often. Sweet feature I didn't hear about till... Continue reading

This is gonna be a great week, E3 starts today. All the cool news on video games will be coming out, most likely including the PS3 and Xbox info everyone is dying for. Roy in Madden 2005

May 01, 2004 at 03:29 PM

Damn, I am counting the minutes until August and September when EA releases NCAA Football and Madden 2005. They're gonna be freaking awesome, and I'm probably going to get them for Xbox so shorter loading times means more playing time (and hopefully better graphics too). Here's a screenshot of Roy Williams in a Lions' uniform. We've found out in the last couple days that he'll wear number 11 though instead of his usual 4... Continue reading
