Sony announces assault on Xbox Live

Sony is set to announce in the Official Playstation Magazine that they'll be introducing a centralized online system with the PS3.
I don't know if they'll match Xbox Live feature for feature and then some,
but it's fantastic news that they're going to try. The Playstation 3 needs a unified online system and it sounds like it'll be getting one.
The better each system, the more competition, the more pressure on Microsoft and Sony (and Nintendo) to innovate and improve. If Sony comes out with an online service that rivals or even one ups Xbox Live than Microsoft will be forced to add something extra to compete.
