Tiger Woods signs deal to endorse A-Rod

September 29, 2005 at 08:31 PM

A-Rod wants to be recognized not just as a star, but as an honest and hard-working individual, and the easiest way for A-Rod to get people to perceive him in this fashion is to sign a much more beloved athlete to tell them that.

I really need to remember to read The Onion more often.

Windows Vista will boot in 2 to 3 seconds

September 27, 2005 at 08:24 PM

I'll believe it when I see it. I'd much rather them reduce the number of reboots needed and fix the Sleep feature to work better, which I think I read somewhere they're working on. Sure hope they don't screw this up.

Once you go black...

September 21, 2005 at 07:06 PM

Apparently the new black iPod nano is drastically outselling the white one. Probably just pent up demand for a black iPod of any kind. I think they're both slick, but would probably pick the black one as well if I had to choose.

Opera browser is now free

September 20, 2005 at 10:13 PM

Maybe they realized that no one would choose Opera over Firefox if they were actually charging money for it.

Too bad it still displays CSS so poorly.

Barry Bonds is a piece of crap human being

September 20, 2005 at 09:50 PM

Trying to use the tragedy in the Gulf Coast to distract from the fact that he's on steroids. Just because people still want you to admit you're a cheater doesn't mean we've forgotten about the people affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Microsoft Codename Max

September 19, 2005 at 09:19 PM

Very, very slick new photo organizer/sharing app from Microsoft. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I will sometime soon. Reminds me of the Office 12 screenshots from earlier, I have a feeling that all of Microsoft's apps and Vista will share the same nice looking feel.

Originality in Logo Design

September 15, 2005 at 08:29 PM

Complete and blatant rip-offs, accidental rip-offs, too similar inspirations are all getting more and more common in logo design.

I really need to spend some time working and creating a true logo for seven22 and fore here too.

Gillette Fusion: 5-bladed razor

September 15, 2005 at 07:14 PM

Gillette is skipping right over four blades and unveiling a 5-bladed razor called the Fusion. It will even have a single blade on the back for trimming sideburns and facial hair. Sounds like it won't be any more expensive than the Mach 3 Turbo is now either.

MS Office 12 screenshots

September 14, 2005 at 09:54 PM

I like it a lot. Definitely more polished and advanced than Office 2003. Yeah it's a lot of stuff on the screen at the same time, but it looks like it's collapsable or only on the screen when certain tabs are selected.

Windows Vista to come in 7 versions

September 12, 2005 at 07:58 PM

It could be a little confusing to give the common consumer that many different choices. Though I think retail stores like Best Buy will only carry only the 3 home user version plus maybe a mediacentric version a la Windows Media Center.

eBay buys Skype

September 12, 2005 at 07:52 PM

Holy cow that's a lot of money, $2.6 million in cash and $1.5 million in eBay stock. I know it's not exactly the same concept, but I wonder if the eBay stockholders know that Google Talk has supposedly much better audio quality.

September 07, 2005 at 10:51 PM

The La Maison Bleu Guesthouse in New Orleans was the first getaway Christina and I had as a couple. It, along with so many other places, appears to be completely submerged according to Google's satellite photos of the Hurricane Katrina after effects.

Samsung’s 19-inch laptop

September 04, 2005 at 09:54 PM
samsung19laptop.jpg

That is one monster of a laptop. The Samsung M70 is a widescreen behemoth, and they did an ingenius thing and made it possible to use the screen as a monitor for when you're not on the road. Possibly a good idea for people who use their notebooks at their desks 90% of the time or so.

Press the button of the floor you want and the Close Door button at the same time and you'll turn your trip into an express one on Otis elevators and several other manufacturers as well. Thanksgiving launch for Xbox 360?

September 01, 2005 at 08:15 PM

Sounds like details are still a little sketchy, but retailers believe the Xbox 360 will hit shelves at least by the day after Thanksgiving, the busiest shopping day of the year. Hopefully I'll get my last two referrals by then so I can get my free one as soon as possible.
