Peerflix

February 26, 2005 at 10:36 AM

Peerflix is a movie trading service where you sign up and trade DVD's with other users rather than renting them from a central service. There's no monthly fee so you can use it as often or as little as you like, just pay $1 per trade. Each DVD in the system is assigned a Peerbux value, when you ship one of your DVD's you get Peerbux and when you receive one they cost Peerbux.... Continue reading

I'm guessing the fine is the least of your problems. There's background info in the comments and some doubts about the signs veracity. Still funny as hell.... Continue reading

Samsung SlimFit Widescreen TV

February 24, 2005 at 07:36 AM

Wow, I'm actually falling in love with a TV that's (almost) moderately priced. It's certainly more reasonable than most of the electronics I have on my ever-growing wishlist. What's really cool about the new Samsung SlimFit 30" Widescreen TV (more images) is that is has the price and quality of a CRT TV but manages to weigh in at less than a ton. A suggested retail price of $1199 means that it won't be hard... Continue reading

The Somerville Gates

February 18, 2005 at 09:05 AM

After our nice discussion on whether The Gates are crap or art or something else entirely, I found this absolutely hilarious. The Somerville Gates will be available in Somerville, Massachusetts until the cleaning lady comes. This helpful comparison of the two masterpieces, including statistics on the years it took to make (26 to .002) and the number of feline visitors (0 to 1). Amazingly this work of art was accomplished with only $3.50, slightly... Continue reading

Aggies like sheep

February 17, 2005 at 10:55 AM

The Longhorn fans are at it again, dressed up and mocking A&M. This time was even funnier. He even had a sign that said Baaaaah means no! Silly Aggies and their animal lovin'. I really don't know what to say about the guy in the gorilla suit, the giant orange foam novelty hat is a nice touch though. I miss being a college student.... Continue reading

I hate politicians and the ACLU

February 16, 2005 at 07:39 AM

How is running a red light and endangering everyone around you some sort of inalienable right? Right now there is a bill going to the Texas House of Representatives that would prohibit cities from using cameras to cite people who run red-lights. The bill is expected to pass easily. It appears to be a battle between the state and city governments as much as anything else. The cities already can't do anything criminally because state... Continue reading

Super Bowl ads

February 06, 2005 at 11:56 PM

It was really a pretty weak year for Super Bowl ads. Nothing absolutely hilarious and definitely nothing you'd be laughing with your friends about for weeks to come. I blame Janet Jackson. Few of the ads took any risks and most were just generally uncreative. You can watch all of tonight's ads and the ones that didn't make the air over at IFILM's Super Bowl Showcase. Best commercial Neither of the two funniest commercials... Continue reading

50 Gmail invites

February 04, 2005 at 02:49 PM

Yeah, you heard me right, fifty. I had four yesterday, got in to work today and I have fifty. I've seen other people saying the same thing happened to them, so I have to suspect that it'll be open to the public real soon now. Comment on this message or email me if you want one or two. Or seven.... Continue reading

Ryan Perrilloux is a punk

February 03, 2005 at 07:29 AM

Update: Ryan Perrilloux has been kicked off the team, his career at LSU is over. Jesus. How do you know when Ryan Perrilloux is lying? His lips are moving. In case you didn't know, he picked LSU yesterday after claiming to our coaches just a couple days ago that he was still very much committed to the Horns. He claimed in one interview that he decided to switch to LSU in the last days, only... Continue reading

American Idol is a sham

February 02, 2005 at 07:42 PM

American Idol is officially fake. Tonight one of the contestants called himself Christopher Noll, a 28 year old nanny. He loved the two little girls like they were his own. How touching. Well Mr. Noll made himself quite the spectacle, rapping instead of singing, dancing like a mad man, and rhyming things with Moesha for guest judge Brandy. It was pretty awful. Somehow Paula voted to move him on because he was the most original... Continue reading

Sandwich lovin'

February 02, 2005 at 11:03 AM

The advertisement above is running on ESPN's Page2 and is absolutely hilarious. How did someone actually approve it? Apparently, McDonald's is not exactly as down with the slang kids these days are using as they think they are. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be telling us to have sex with their double cheeseburger. I'm a Dollar Menu guy is a stupid enough slogan without them also suggesting some hot man on sandwich action.... Continue reading

Toy soldier taken hostage

February 02, 2005 at 08:54 AM

Nice work by Islamic militants to capture one of our most important soldiers, Special Ops Cody. GI Joe, He-Man, and Strawberry Shortcake have all been taken to an undisclosed location for their safety. Unfortunately the Secret Service got to Barbie's Dream Home a little too late....
