Man of the House

November 30, 2004 at 10:12 AM

Man of the House is an upcoming movie from Sony Pictures starring Tommy Lee Jones. The plot? Texas Ranger Roland Sharp is assigned to protect the only witnesses to the murder of a key figure in the prosecution of a drug kingpin -- a group of University of Texas cheerleaders. Sharp must now go undercover as an assistant cheerleading coach and move in with the young women. This is the oddest damn thing I've ever... Continue reading

Reesey is sick

November 29, 2004 at 11:23 PM

We had to take Reesey to the emergency clinic tonight. She's been a little sick (but still peppy) since we got back into town and when we took her in she was dehydrated and something wrong with the concentration of her blood. Both are temporary things that should be cleared up soon. Not overly serious, but she did need to stay overnight and get hooked up to an IV to fix both her blood issue... Continue reading

Reesey misses me

November 27, 2004 at 10:24 PM

Christina took this perfect shot of Reesey staring out the window wondering where I went. She just stood there on her tiptoes waiting for me to come back home. Christina said she was there for at least five whole minutes. I think this may be my favorite photo of Reesey ever. There's some really great ones of her running around or with her big toungue hanging out, but this one really captures her personality.... Continue reading

Shit that bothers me: Weight lifting gloves

November 27, 2004 at 08:28 PM

Okay, so I understand that some of those big `ol dudes that lift all day every day need them. They're lifting a ton of weight and doing it every damn day. But what really gets to me is the fact that I was at the gym the other day and every last jackass had them on, literally. And there was at max two guys who were doing enough weight to justify not being kicked in... Continue reading

My server died!

November 23, 2004 at 08:39 PM

Alright, this pisses me off at least a little bit. This site as well as 722webdesign are both hosted at Surpass Hosting. They are by far the cheapest host I was able to find and I haven't had too much trouble with them before. So today at about 2 pm the whole freaking thing crashed. It was down for about an hour and then it looked like they had reinstalled Linux/Apache/Cpanel. I was in contact... Continue reading

Halo 2 and Xbox Live own me

November 18, 2004 at 10:25 AM

In case you didn't know it, Halo 2 freaking rocks. I've always claimed that I hated first-person shooters, a claim based mainly on despising GoldenEye (the multiplayer was fun though), Metroid Prime, and the original Halo. I sucked hardcore at all three of those games and they actually made me physically sick to play them for too long. So obviously I wasn't overly excited about picking up Halo 2 when it came out, but I... Continue reading

RFID to track punk school kids

November 17, 2004 at 12:47 PM

The NY Times is reporting that schools in the US have finally started using RFID technology to monitor student arrivals and departures. Pretty sweet. Spring ISD (near Houston) is issuing ID badges with RFID technology built in so they can track the little boogers. I really could've used this when I was teaching, I wouldn't have had to pay any attention when taking attendance. Not that I really ever did, I always screwed that up... Continue reading

TiVo to add banner ads when fast forwarding

November 17, 2004 at 09:40 AM

Eh. TiVo is now going to be showing banner ads while your fast forwarding. PVRblog makes it sound like it'll only be if you're fast forwarding through commercials, but I think I may have just read that wrong. The idea bothers me ethically and on principle, but I really doubt I'll actually mind it too much. As long as the ads aren't obtrusive and I can still see what I'm fast forwarding through, I'll... Nebraska coach calls OU fans hillbillies

November 15, 2004 at 03:48 PM

Nebraska coach Bill Callahan called a group of Sooner fans hillbillies after their game last Saturday. Okay, technically Callahan called them [expletive] hillbillies, which is just so much better. Oklahoma lets what are essentially their rowdiest bunch of morons right on the field and then gives them loud guns. Genius. It sounds like they were right up in the middle of the Cornhusker warm-ups and one of the NU players "accidentally" collided with one... Continue reading

Review: Pat Green's Lucky Ones

November 11, 2004 at 09:22 PM

I already love this CD. I would say I like every single song except for one ("Sweet Revenge" is his apparently obligatory Cajun-sounding song), and even it's not too bad. It's just a great album filled with several different styles of songs, all pretty damn good. "Lucky Ones" is probably his best recent album and will likely have the most commercial appeal of any of his albums. It's definitely still Pat, but he's come... Continue reading

Funny meds

November 10, 2004 at 08:45 AM

I stole this off the Orangebloods forums this morning... A man came into the ER and yelled, "My wife's going to have her babyin the cab!" I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress, and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there were several cabs - and I was in the wrong one. - Dr. Mark MacDonald, San Antonio, TX At the beginning of my shift... Continue reading
