RFID to track punk school kids

November 17, 2004 at 12:47 PM

The NY Times is reporting that schools in the US have finally started using RFID technology to monitor student arrivals and departures. Pretty sweet. Spring ISD (near Houston) is issuing ID badges with RFID technology built in so they can track the little boogers.

I really could've used this when I was teaching, I wouldn't have had to pay any attention when taking attendance. Not that I really ever did, I always screwed that up and marked everybody present. But maybe now the little shits will actually get in trouble when they skip.

More likely? Shithead kid number 1 gives his ID to kid number 2 and then the system thinks number 1 is here. Too much fun and mischief is available to probably make this useful. We just need to get around to embedding the chips in their freaking skulls. (via Engadget)
