I got my ass kicked by a virus/spyware smorgasboard when Windows Media Player 10 tried to acquire a license for a music file. Installed all sorts of fun stuff that even after weeks worth of running spyware cleaners and Norton Anti-Virus was still lingering. I eventually had to reformat and reinstall.

Stick with Windows Media 9 or lower! Or better yet use Quicktime! Lots of video out there on the web isn't encoded for WM10.
