No free WiFi for you!

February 20, 2005 at 12:24 PM

There is a proposed Texas bill that would outlaw municipal WiFi (cities providing free wireless Internet access.) Nice to see our government is once again working with it's citizens in mind. Didn't I mention before how much I hated politicians?

What is the logic in that?? What is their justification?

"there is a valid argument that it puts governments in unfair competition with companies who want to offer it for a price" - I'm sure the government official who wrote this bill got kickbacks from telecom companies. Obviously this bill is in the interest of private companies who wants to charge for WiFi versus the govt who is willing to offer it for free everywhere.
