The Oscars

February 27, 2005 at 08:27 PM

They sure are shafting the crappy awards this year. Not complaining of course, but it does kind of suck that some winners don't even get to accept on stage.

I bet Sideways gets shut out.

Tim Robbins looks like he didn't bathe today.

Man on Fire

Not really much different from a lot of the stuff Denzel's been doing lately, but still very, very good. My biggest complaint is that the previews gave away the major plot turn.

I don't know where but I've heard a lot of this material before, eventhough the DVD was released last September and I haven't seen it before. Oh yeah, maybe it's on the Comedian. Maybe I should stop thinking out loud. I can never decide between aloud, out loud, and outloud. I'm pretty sure they're all technically accepted.

I'm losing it.

Anyways, it's funny. Watch it.

Wired

I don't know why I never read it before but it's really good. I'm only about a third of the way through my first issue but I've already really enjoyed a short article on elective surgery being the next-generation performance enhancer in sports. Really quality writing.

Really cool movie. The effects were excellent and very stylish. I can't believe the entire thing was shot in front of a blue screen.

The movie's story was decent, but the look of the movie is what makes it worth seeing.

I, Robot

Much better than I thought it was going to be, the previews made it look like another lame Will Smith movie. Like Wild Wild West (I can't believe Jassin and I paid money to see that in the theater) but set in the future. Turns out it was actually a really entertaining movie. Good action, unpredictable, interesting futuristic technology. Biggest thing I didn't like about it was the fact that no one ever believed him. 20,000 robots could be trying to kill him, and everybody would just say, But the rules say robots can't hurt humans.

Drink less coffee

February 17, 2005 at 02:43 PM

I've started drinking entirely too much coffee everyday. At least two cups both before and after lunchtime, usually more. I'd say I probably average 5 - 8 cups a day. Definitely not good for me, especially when combined with 2+ sodas I down daily.

I don't even like the stuff, I just drink it because it's free (at work) and full of caffeine goodness. I'm actually decently alert in the morning so I should try to have either one or no coffee before lunch. I'm pretty sure I'd be zonked out by 3:30 pm if I don't have my afternoon cup though.

Starting next Monday my goal is three cups. We'll go from there...

The Notebook

Christina has been begging me to see this with her forever, but I avoided like the plague when it was in theaters. But it came out on DVD just in time for Valentine's Day (great marketing job by New Line) and so I bought it for her. We watched it together and it was actually really good. The movie focused a little too much on them as an older couple than I would've liked and it ended a little poorly, but it was still good.

Rachel McAdams is pretty hot, where has she been? I didn't even realize she was the chick in Mean Girls, she looked much better here.

Motorola 3 MP cameraphone

February 14, 2005 at 11:53 AM

The Motorola E1120 is a very nice looking candy-bar style cell phone with a whopping three megapixel camera built-in. Looks like something that would a perfect compliment to a more professional digital camera. Use this for quick impromptu shots so you don't have to take the fancy one everywhere.

Sure would be nice to have a cameraphone that didn't blow.
Should be out by Christmas 2005. Wink wink.

Great movie. Denzel Washington is one of my favorite actors and does well as usual here. Meryl Streep creeps me out.

I wish they had played up the RFID tags more, I bet most people don't even realize it's real technology.

Anchorman

Some people don't like it as much as I do, but I really think it's hilarious. Yeah there's definitely better stupid comedies and better Will Ferrell movies, but that doesn't make Anchorman bad. Worth seeing if you liked stuff like Old School and Dodgeball.

Work for ESPN

WOrk for ESPN

I want to work for ESPN in some capacity, almost anything.

Sports are something I've always loved and therefore a job in sports is something I've always wanted. Now since finding Mike Davidson's site I've been wanting to combine that goal with my goal to be a web professional.

I'd be a very happy man if I accomplished either of those, let alone both with one job.

Star Wars Empire at War

I really would love an awesome RTS based on Star Wars. Empire at War looks like it may be pretty cool, graphics definitely look great. I'll definitely be taking a look at this and Republic Commando.

I know, I know. I'm probably the one millionth person to make that joke.

Anyways, Flickr freaking rules and is really making me want to take even more photos. Plus I can finally start using my T610 and send those picture via email.

Check out a slideshow of my latest photos. Incredibly snazzy.

Lasik revisited

February 09, 2005 at 03:04 PM

Jesus could my eyes really hurt anymore?

They hurt like an SOB all the time. I am so tired of it. My aunt had lasik done a couple of weeks ago. Said it was painless and quick and could already see a ton better by that evening.

Maybe I should start looking into it more seriously.

Lame.

M. Night Shyamalan's movies are having unexpected twists. This one had a dumb one, and I guessed it pretty early. Just listen carefully to the elders' choice of words.

I see porcupines.

Even the extras for this movie sucked, especially Bryce's Diary. It's supposedly by Bryce Howard (daughter of Ron), but it sounds like it's from a twelve year old girl.

Super Bowl XXXIX

February 06, 2005 at 06:43 PM

Terrel Owens deserves a lot of praise and a lot of apologies. Donovan McNabb played the whole game nervous and the Eagles still had a shot to win. Commercials sucked.

Is next year's game going to be Super Bowl XL? XL as in ten before fifty? That's pretty cool.

GTA San Andreas

February 05, 2005 at 03:05 PM

I finally broke down and bought it this weekened. Okay, I used Reward Zone certificates and gift cards but that still counts.

So far so good, really fun. First thing I noticed is how much more vulgar it is than the GTA 3 and and Vice City. There really wasn't too much bad language in those, but now every other word is f***. It actually seems to be more realistic because of it.

The music is awesome as usual.

Rose Bowl on DVD

February 02, 2005 at 10:03 PM

So I finally got TiVoToGo last week and the first thing I did was transfer all four hours of the Rose Bowl. The dang thing is 11GB so transferring over 802.11b took like 6+ hours. Downloaded the Sonic MyDVD Tivo Trial Edition, took out the commercials, and burnt the sucker.

I'm going to watch it over and over again just to piss off Christina.

American Idol

February 02, 2005 at 08:33 PM

I'm not sure I'll be watching it anymore after discovering it's a farce, but it is still pretty entertaining. I think mainly I'm tired of watching the early rounds and all the crappy people. You can only be god-awful in so many ways before it gets boring.
