Consumer complaints about The Right One dating service
Strange, old school dating service in my office building. Not surprisingly, by the sounds of these complaints the service is a little sketchy.

More scammy phone call garbage. They call several times per week often 3 or 4 times in an hour.

Shaving tips
The Gillette Fusion is great, seems like a much closer shave than even the Mach 3. I want to try a pre-shave oil to soften things up a bit like is recommended in the comments, sounds like it might do me some good.

866-383-0986
Don't answer any calls from (866) 383-0986.
I got a call from the number the other day but I never answer numbers I don't recognize. They didn't leave a message on my cell so I googled the number. Looks like it's some sort of scam simply to collect fax numbers from people which I'm sure they then sell off to someone else. Kind of common sense not to hand out any sort of personal info to strange phone numbers.

I picked one up today at Wal-Mart and will be trying to soon. Packaging is definitely bright and begs you to buy it.

Junior! The Wendy's Guy
Junior works at the Texas Union Wendy's and can take orders faster than any man alive. The teaser and trailer don't do Junior justice. Everyone at Texas knows him, as you can tell by his 3,417 member fan club on Facebook.

Coffee is good for you
Coffee provides more healthful antioxidants than any other food or beverage in the American diet.
Antioxidants might help reduce your chance of cancer, or they might not. Scientifically, we've really got no idea half the time.

Gmaps Pedometer
Like to jog outside but have trouble knowing exactly how far you've run, then try out the Gmaps Pedometer. Allows you to plot your points and tell the exact mileage of your route. Very cool. Here's the route I've been taking lately.

Free Flickr schwag
The Flickr peeps have announced that they're giving away more stuff, this time some cool/useless junk. Stickers, buttons, yada. Send them a self-addressed envelope and you'll get the goods.
I still want t-shirts damnit.

Jake Plummer looks like a porn star

The Blu-Blocker sunglasses really top off this ensemble. I'm not sure this is a look I could pull off.

Backpack now available
Backpack is now available from 37signals.
I was going to link to it yesterday but the overwhelming first day demand had the site running really slowly. I've just started to feel my way around and it definitely seems interesting, I'm not sure where this fits in with Ta-Da Lists and Basecamp for me yet. Other than the reminders, there seems to be a lot of overlap in Backpack, at least from the way I think I'd probably use it.
Getting organized is easy. Gather your ideas, to-dos, notes, photos, and files online. Set email and mobile reminders so you don't forget the little things. Easily collaborate with others.
In a couple of weeks I'll write more about my experiences with it and let you know what I think.

Stock footage additions, plus the original source!
An update to an update to an update.
The girl in the blue hat and shell necklace that first amazed us with her ability to go to school with Dell and Gateway at the same time, has shown up several more times in the last week. Plus, I finally got curious enough to look for the original source and was able locate it pretty easily.

Do I know this girl?

Amanda is a Hooter's girl (well at least she didn't lie and say she's in med school) from New Braunfels in the Maxim Hometown Hotties contest. She looks familiar in the picture on the left, but I'm not sure. How come it'll say they're weight but not age, weird.
Any New Braunfelsinians recognize her?

iPose.org
I'd vote for either Joy or Emily. Maddison's parents need to learn how to spell. Two d's in Madison. Ugh.
How come none of the girls are from Arizona (well one)? There must not be any cute girls in the entire state.

Where's Durstan?
Ethan announced the release of Professional CSS at SXSW last week, and we soon realized that not only was Dunstan not on the cover, his name was misspelled Durstan.
I whipped up the new cover image on the right instead of paying attention to some crappy Flash panel and posted it at Malarkey's, and now everyone is having good fun playing Where's Durstan?
See if you can find him here, here, here, here here, or here.

Stock footage laziness
An update to my exposé on lazy companies using the exact same girl from the exact same photoset in different ads. First was Dell and Gateway, then Vivarin, then Samsung, and just now I saw her in an ad for H&R Block.
If I saw her this many times, how many other ads must she be in?

I don't get the point of 'The Gates'
Kottke and many of the other weblogs I read have linked to them over and over, but I just don't understand the purpose of The Gates
. They appear to be orange fabric suspended from an orange set of poles, times a seven and a half thousand. They seem to really overwhelm Central Park.
Is it art? A statement? Neither? How did it cost $20 million? I'm not the only one wondering.

Leta in the NY Times
Damn that kid is famous, luckily she's cute enough to deserve it.
The New York Times does an article on Mommy Blogs
, so of course has to feature Dooce.com and Leta. She talks about it here, mentioning the perils of freaking logging in to read an article on their site. She should have told her dad about BugMeNot.

CubeDoor
I don't get it. It's completely see-thru. It's kind of like a bigger, more obnoxious, Do Not Disturb
sign for your cubicle. Might be pretty useful if it was more opaque.
Or you could just be a bad ass like me and have a big wooden door to your office.
