I am "Flaccid with Rage" over the iPhone

January 14, 2007 at 09:58 PM

Okay, I'm actually quite excited about the iPhone but Stephen Colbert gives Apple the dreaded double finger wag for the iPhone announcement. "The iPhone has given the nerd community it's hardest collective wood since Princess Leia wore a bronze bikini... But I am flaccid with rage." The Colbert Report isn't always good but that's one of the funniest (and most on point) lines I've heard in a while. The love Apple is getting right now... Continue reading

Apple iPhone announced

January 11, 2007 at 09:51 PM

Apple announced the new iPhone at Tuesday's MacWorld keynote (live blog from Engadget or just the photos) and I must have one. The thing is incredible looking and pretty darn powerful too. It's a cool cellphone, widescreen iPod, and an Internet device. No buttons, everything is done through a sleek touchscreen interface. The full blown Safari browser on the phone actually looks incredibly useful (unlike most mobile browsers.) Includes a 4 or 8 GB... Continue reading

Dell buys 1UP?

January 08, 2007 at 08:55 PM

Okay no they didn't. But Destructoid.com is claiming that Dell has bought 1UP and Electronic Gaming Monthly based on this Dell-branded page at dell.1up.com. There's definitely some sort of relationship between Dell and 1UP.com but the page sure doesn't prove Dell has actually acquired EGM and 1UP as the guys from Destructoid conclude. You only get the Dell logo and banner if you first visit the Dell landing page first and that Dell landing... Continue reading

Reign Over Me trailer

January 06, 2007 at 07:28 AM

Saw Pursuit of Happyness last night and before the movie they had the trailer for the new Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle movie Reign Over Me: The plot outline: A man (Sandler) who lost his family in the September 11 attack on New York City runs into his old college roommate (Cheadle). Rekindling the friendship is the one thing that appears able to help the man recover from his grief. The movie looks really good.... Continue reading

Swirly curls in Adobe Illustrator

January 04, 2007 at 07:49 PM

An excellent Adobe Illustrator tutorial for making swirly curls is available from Veerle Pieters. She's got step by step instructions on how to make the cool and popular little artistic flair. I'm using something similar with floral accents on Our Married Life and I really like it, Veerle's tutorial makes it pretty easy to do. (Absolutely love her site by the way, one of my favorites.)... Vince Young is AP Rookie of the Year

January 04, 2007 at 07:36 PM

Tennessee Titans quarterback and former Longhorn Vince Young ran away with the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Vince picked up 23 out of the 50 possible votes, easily besting Marques Colston and Maurice Jones-Drew. Overhyped New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush pulled up the rear with only 3 votes. Vince really had an impressive season, he even exceeded my high expectations for him in year one. This was a remarkably good year... Continue reading

Adobe CS3 icons kinda suck

January 03, 2007 at 10:01 PM

The icons for the Adobe Creative Suite 3 were announced and I'm not a huge fan. They're simple and decent looking enough, but they all kind of look the same. At smaller sizes, such as in your Windows Quick Launch toolbar, the icons that are similar in color are completely indistinguishable from each other. When you look at the many, many different icons there are you'll need a legend to know how to open... Continue reading

I've got a Wii!!

January 01, 2007 at 05:32 PM

Last week Christina called me at work to let me know she'd spent $250 on her lunch break. I didn't know what she could have possibly purchased since we just had Christmas and there wasn't really anything we needed. But there was something I'd wanted! She had stumbled upon a shipment of Nintendo Wii's being stocked at Target and had quickly grabbed one before the word got out. She had tried to no avail... Continue reading
