Transparent custom corners and borders
Create a resizable box with rounded (or any shape) corners, custom borders, and a transparent shadow without having to use extra div
s. Very slick and something I'm sure to put to use sometime.

The all new And All That Malarkey
Malarkey redesigns. I absolutely love the way he aggregated so much content into the home page without making it busy or confusing. Plus it of course looks fantastic.

Web design trends
I like the plastic look and think it'll make sense for finalizing the design for the seven22.com logo and site design.
Update: Unfortunately, John has taken down his excellent site and therfore this link no longer works. (7/14/2005)

Adobe to acquire Macromedia?
Hopefully this is just an internal April Fool's joke that we're just now stumbling onto. It's sort of like if Microsoft bought Apple, not good at all.
For the love of God I hope they don't scrap Fireworks. I prefer it about 100 times to Photoshop.

More on freelance design rates
Good info about how much freelance designers are charging per job and per hour. Looks like I'm definitely on the low end, but that's understandable since I'm still just starting out.
All the rates are in British pounds, so keep in mind £1 is roughly $1.89 US right now.

Very nice temporary redesign by Andy Clarke. I love the old movie poster imagery he uses a lot. Looks great with the color scheme.

The 10 Commandments of Freelancing
A list from Starting Your Career as a Freelance Illustrator or Graphic Designer
of some very important things to remember if you're a freelance designer, probably the most important to me is number ten:
Thou shalt never miss a deadline! Be late with a job and chances are, that a particular art director will never call you again.
I've got a lot of work to do tonight to be ready for my meeting tomorrow. I think Christina and I will be able to handle it, and I'll stay up all night if I need to.
Definitely a book I'll check into soon.
