Big week in sports

Lance Berkman and his Astros teammates celebrate the wild card

It's going to either be a really long or really fast week.

The Astros capped off an amazing comeback with another win yesterday and are headed to the playoffs as the wild-card winner. Unfortunately, they'll be facing my other favorite team the Atlanta Braves. Again. The Braves beat Houston in the first round in 1997, 1999, and 2001. It'll be tough, I want both teams to win. At least I hope Lance has a good series.

But even more importantly, next Saturday is the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. Biggest game of the year for both teams by far, and the Horns have lost four in a row. Both teams are playing well, although Texas is awfully one dimensional. It should be a good game.

Relatively good news for Texas fans, I am going to the game. Why is that good news? Because I'm a minor good luck charm for the game. I went Freshman year and Texas won. I didn't go the next year and we lost 63-14. Went Junior year and only lost 14-3 in a close game. I went again my Senior year and the Horns led for much of the game but lost 35-24. Last year I was working and couldn't go, final score: OU 65, Texas 13.

Hopefully this will be our year, if only for Mack Brown's sake.

I told you I was just a MINOR good luck charm. We haven't always won, but at least we played decent and didn't get blown out.

I guess the term should be a moderate luck charm.
