Review: iPod mini

I've had my mini for almost a month now and I felt I should post my thoughts on it. Overall it's awesome. It works like a charm, easy to use, functional, stylish, easy to carry, and sounds great. I wear almost exclusively while working out, I don't really have many other occasions to listen to music. It's great in the gym. It clips easily onto waistband with the included belt clip. The earphones stay in snugly, although they do let in a lot of outside noise. It's a pain in the ass when the gym's stereo is too loud, I can barely hear my own music. The click wheel really makes it easy to use. Without looking I can easily accomplish anything I need to. Volume, navigating tracks, play/pause. Getting around in the menus is simple too, again using the click wheel.

The iTunes software is great too, I now use it on my PC as my mp3 player as well as to sync with my iPod. It allows you to easily manage all your music and set up some really functional playlists. I have one just for working out, then there are ones set up for my favorite songs (you can rate every song from 1 to 5 stars), lists for most often and least often played (it keeps track of number of times played as well as when a song was last played). Syncing with the iPod is easy and fast, transferring a full 4 GBs takes just a minute or two.

Rating: 5/5

My only complaint so far has been battery life. Although it's not bad, it's certainly not the 9 or so hours Apple claims. Of course that is for continuous play, I usually use mine for an hour or two at a time which reduces how long the battery lasts. But then it charges easily and quickly too, so it's a minor annoyance that I can live with.

Overall I highly recommend it to almost everyone. Great for carrying a ton of music while being stylish and extremely portable.
