Review: In the Cut

Not a bad drama, although it did piss me off several times. Meg Ryan (Franny Thorstin) plays a bit of a nitwit. The typical female victim, she's always following unquestioningly into obvious danger. Walk through the ghetto all alone in the middle of the night? Sounds great! A strange man wants to take me in his car into the middle of the woods? Sure, why not? Are there women in the world that are really that stupid or do directors/writers just think they are. It really annoys the heck out of me.

The story is decent, although the ending is a little predictable and Ryan's character really needs a punch in the face. The movie focuses a lot more on the relationship between Ryan and Mark Ruffalo (Detective Giovanni Malloy) and her immense emotional/sexual disorder than it does on the murders.

Rating: 2/5

Overall it's worth seeing if you want to see Meg Ryan naked or don't mind movies that are a little scattered and unfocused. Beware... gratuitous wang shots abound in the unrated version.
