Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith

Very dark movie that was probably the best of the three Star Wars prequels, but I think it was the most disappointing for me. I came in with higher expectations than I did for Episodes 1 or 2.

Anakin went from confused but still wanting to do the right thing to the Dark Side in about 30 seconds, it was kind of weird. Lots of build-up to that moment and then it just happened in an instant.

The Aviator

Rating: 4/5

Howard Hughes' life story didn't need much embellishment to make it into an entertaining film. My favorite parts were the Senate hearings when Hughes flat out embarrasses Senator Brewster and a fantastic plane crash scene where he's almost killed.

Gwen Stefani sure got a lot of pub for being in this movie, she's on screen for about 30 seconds and says essentially nothing.

Really good movie of a horrible real-life story, the U.N. and the western world sure comes out looking like crap in this movie. Wonderfully acted and written, not a single moment in it that was unbelievable or that pissed me off. A very good movie that everyone will find entertaining and heart-wrenching.

flexDock mini

May 26, 2005 at 10:32 AM
flexDock mini

I've been interested in some sort of car charger/dock/stand for my iPod mini since I originally saw the Belkin TuneBase at iPodlounge. Ten Technology's flexDock is essentially but I've actually seen it in stores (I've only seen the FM-version of the TuneBase) and it got a better review.

It doesn't sound like the audio quality of the cassette player is too great, but I still have my iTrip mini if I need to use it.

I need to refrain from buying this so people have something to buy for my birthday in July.

The Da Vinci Code trailer

May 26, 2005 at 08:45 AM

No actual movie scenes since they haven't actually started filming the movie yet, but nice to see it's finally moving along. It's already got a release date too, instead of something like Spring 2006 it actually says May 19, 2006.

I'm not sure what I think about Tom Hanks playing Robert Langdon, he's too famous and doesn't fit the picture I have of him in my head at all.

Lost season finale

May 25, 2005 at 10:35 PM

I knew we weren't going to find out everything in the season finale but I think they left way too many things hanging. They should've wrapped a few more issues but there's probably more questions now than there were when the night started.

TVSquad has a nice discussion about the last episode up.

American Idol finale

May 25, 2005 at 09:00 PM

I thought Bo deserved to win and have been rooting for him the last six weeks or so, but on first impressions I actually said Carrie would win back when the final round just started. I thought she actually got worse the more country she tried to be. It sounded like she was trying to have too much twang in her voice. She's good but could still use a lot of coaching.

24 season finale

May 24, 2005 at 09:03 PM

I didn't watched all of this season of 24 (Christina did), but I still enjoyed the finale. I think I could handle it a lot better if it was called 6 or something. It's just too long and drawn out and they beat some stuff to death by doing that many episodes. Every year I watch the first part and then get worn out on it and miss the rest.

King Arthur

Rating: 3/5

Surprisingly decent, I thought it was gonna blow big time but it was actually entertaining. Nice realitistic take on the King Arthur legend that wasn't too predictable. Not quite an epic blockbuster but a watchable flick if you can get over Keira Knightley's outfit in the final battle. (As an aside, damn she's still so young, just turned 20 in March.)

Lindy's Big 12 preview

May 22, 2005 at 08:45 PM

Damn their website blows, but any magazine that picks us to go the Rose Bowl and calls A&M's Reggie McNeal a poor man's Vince Young is all right with me.

I can't wait for football season to get here.

Must. Get. HD.

The Astros suck

May 21, 2005 at 05:38 PM

I'm really glad I decided not to get tickets to any of the Astros versus Rangers games in Arlington this weekend. God the Astros are downright terrible.

The O.C. season finale

May 19, 2005 at 09:26 PM

Great episode with a ton of cliffhangers to get people to come back next season. Maybe Marissa will go to jail and leave the show, or at least stop being a drunk, annoying rich girl.

The Mavs roll over (again)

May 18, 2005 at 10:33 PM

The Mavericks haven't exactly been impressive these playoffs when other teams make a run. They sure have a knack of turning a two point lead into a twelve point deficit.

Gorillaz - Demon Days

It's nice to actually be listening to new music again after listening to so much of the same crap the last year. I listen to music all day long while working, so pretty much everything I've got has been overplayed. I've been listening to LAUNCHcast's Big Hits station and finding lots of new music that way.

Really good movie that could've been a lot better. The Amazon customer reviews claim there's a ton of blood and gore, but there's not at all. There's one pretty graphic scene and then a lot of implied gore the rest of the time.

Good thriller with lots of plot twists that doesn't have half the story or acting that Se7en did.

Bowling for Soup - Almost

May 13, 2005 at 10:58 AM

I guess Bowling for Soup is finally making it big. I think they must've played 40 Acres Fest every year while I was in school.

Almost and 1985 are both really good catchy songs, I wish I could remember any of the old stuff of their's that I liked.

Canon SD400

May 12, 2005 at 11:04 AM
Canon SD400

I've been wanting an easier to use and more pocketable camera to compliment my HP945 for a while now. The Canon SD500 got a great review from PC Magazine but I don't really need/want to pay the extra $100 just to bump up to 7 megapixels. The SD400 is however slightly smaller so that's good.

I won't be wishing for it much longer, I saw a deal on CheapStingyBastard yesterday at Dell and jumped on it. I got it for $340 instead of the MSRP of $400. Of course last night I saw it for $310 and then this morning I saw the SD500 for only $385. I need to stay off that site for a while so I don't have to watch the price go any lower.

LAUNCHcast

May 11, 2005 at 08:20 AM

It's been forever since I've used LAUNCHcast, probably since college. I'm just getting tired of the mp3's I have here at work, I need to make a list of new music to download when I get the chance.

The program hasn't changed too much, hopefully it doesn't play more commercials than they did back then.
