Guns and bibles

January 10, 2005 at 09:44 PM

We were just watching Vacation Home Search on the Travel Channel, and they're looking at vacation homes in Branson, Missouri. The realtor is showing the man a bedroom and points out the locking closet. She then utters the following words:

You could put your guns or bibles in there. And stuff.

Guns, Bibles, wedding gowns, and beer!

Guns and bibles and stuff. In a locking closet. I know Missouri is in the Bible Belt, but is that really the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of valuables to secure?

I guess I can understand locking up your guns because they're dangerous and valuable, but your Bibles? Is there a rash of Bible-theft in Branson? Or are there kids running around reading Bibles without adult supervision?

It was the funniest and oddest thing I've heard in a while.

And then there are the hollowed-out faux Bibles that have guns in them.
