Reesey is a wuss

Christina and I took Reesey to the dog park yesterday for the first time. Since Reesey pretty much only sees the two of us she doesn't get many chances to interact with other people or animals, so we thought it would be good for her to get out and socialize.

She was scared to death the entire time. The park has two separate sections based on dog size, the small dog part has a weight limit of thirty pounds so they weren't too huge. But she weighs about ten pounds so some of the dogs were about three times her size. Even the little dogs she would tiptoe up to them and as soon as they made any move she would dart away in fear. You could tell she wanted to play though, eventhough she was scared she kept looking for another dog to talk to.

Finally she got one of the dogs to chase her. He was running after her and she was running for her life. Fortunately, eventhough he was twice her size she was much faster. Anytime he would get close she would make a cut and open a bigger distance between the two of them. She's got good enough moves to be a kick returner. But eventually too many dogs got in on the fun. She had at least three dogs chasing her at once and she was doing a great job of eluding them, but you could tell she was getting tired. I had to go pick her up because she wanted to sit and rest and they wanted to bite.

The cutest thing about the whole trip was that since she was scared, she would come and hide behind me. She would walk behind my legs and hope I was going to protect her from the mean dogs. Hopefully when we go again she'll be less scared and have more fun. I think she had fun running around like a crazy woman, but she was also terrified half the time. Next time we'll take the camera.
