I got a job!
I haven't posted much lately, I've got a lot going on right now so I've been busy. Fortunately, most of it's been caused by good news. On Friday I received TWO job offers. After well over a year searching for a "real" job with no success, I got two freaking offers in one day. And both of them were good opportunities. Periscope here in Austin offered me early Friday morning. Great location, great people, good people, good opportunity, and decent money.
Then I flew to Dallas for my interview with MII. It was a long day and it started off pretty bad. We had to take this BS test over our Excel, Access, and SQL Server skills and the software was a total POS. It would ask you to copy an Excel cell, so I hit Ctrl+C and the thing told me I was wrong. So I started off in a real pissy mood. But the day got much better. Everyone was really nice and they seemed much more interested in impressing us than on grilling us about our qualifications. The company sounsd really great and at the end of the long day they made me a very good offer. I am happily calling today to tell them I accept.
That means we're moving to Dallas. I was really set on staying in Austin, I love it. But this is an absolutely amazing offer and it's in a great part of Dallas so I'll make it. It's not like I know anyone in Austin anymore anyways. Plus Christina now gets to be back home, which should reduce some of the stress on her. There's going to be a TON to do between now and mid-June when I start. It's going to be a busy month.
