The great Lamar race

April 16, 2004 at 09:42 AM

Okay, my interview today is on Lamar and 6th and I knew the traffic was a bitch there, but I didn't know it was this bad. Columnist John Kelso decided to test what would be fast to do at 5pm in Austin, drive down Lamar from Town Lake to 24th or ride your bike along the Shoal Creek trail to get there. Well the bicyclist (who appears to be about a 50+ year old woman) beat him by over 5 minutes. That's freaking ridiculous. You have to sign-in to view the article. View the routes and the times.

OK, remember a couple days ago where I ran completely out of gas. While I went straight across mopac which hits Barton Springs Road, cutting through Zilker, and that takes me to Lamar. It's about a 10 minute walk from Mopac to Lamar, but it took me about 15 minutes, not because of traffic congestion - although there were lots of cars - but because of the traffic light. I just know that the downtown area on 35 is going to be backed up, but if it is, just exit. OR, you can exit Ben White to Lamar or Ben White to 360 to Mopac. Geez, I've tried everyone one of those routes to get to work...they're all the same. Speaking of work, I didn't realize it was that close to the downtown area.

You can have it save your personal info (unless cookies dont work on your comp. Wait they don't thats why the other site wasnt storing your stylesheet pref. Oh well) so you dont have to put it in. I made it so no one can post anonymously. So you have to at least put in a fake email. which is kinda dumb. you're right, i'll change that setting
