PCMag: New Google email to use targeted ads

April 14, 2004 at 09:46 PM

Google's new email service, GMail, is planning on using targeted ads that are based on the text in your email. So I guess if I receive an email about last night's Astros game, it'll bombard me with ads/links about baseball. I (and most people) are scared shitless by this. The service itself seems to have a lot to offer (one GIGABYTE of mail storage compared to 10 MB in Yahoo! Mail) so I hope they figure things out by the time its out of the alpha phase. Here's the article.
