My interview

April 17, 2004 at 02:48 PM

So my interview with Whole Foods was yesterday afternoon in Austin. I guess it went pretty well, I thought I did pretty decent and hope they were impressed by me. We'll see.

I left work at 2:30, my dad covered my 8th period class for me. I guess there are good things about working the same place your dad does. The interview wasn't till 4:30 but I was worried traffic would be bad and I didn't want to be late. Traffic was a bitch (Lamar was awful), but I still made it there by a quarter till 4. I went to Book People and looked around for a little bit to kill time and get my mind off the interview. The Whole Foods office was nice, overcrowded but nice. It's right above the grocery store which is kind of cool, there's one place where you can look down and actually see people shopping.

Interview was with three people, which I wasn't expecting. I thought it was going to be a more casual thing just with the manager, but it wasn't too big a deal. I'm used to interviews being with several people. The other people were kinda just there too, more to observe and give their opinion of me. They didn't really ask any questions. Most of the questions were the basics. Describe your positive experience in teams? Describe your negative experiences? Name your best qualities. Tell us about yourself. (I hate that one.) Overall it went really well, I wasn't nervous at all. I had pretty good answers/stories for their questions, and I made all of them laugh several times. The only thing that didn't go well was near the very end. They asked about my operating system experience. I barely even know what that question means. What do they want, me to have coded Windows itself? And why did they want to know? They don't even want me to program when I'm there. Weird.

I'll find out soon how it went. They have more interviews next Friday, and then they'll narrow it down to three people or so. So I'll know about a week and half from now if I have a chance. Cross your fingers. I like company and the job sounds great. I hope I impressed them.
