SSBB is definitely a multiplayer only game for me, I just don't get that much joy out of the single player.

Patapon

February 28, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Patapon is definitely more a strategy game than a rhythm game but that's okay. It's a blast to play but probably not for everyone and not very portable since it requires such high levels of concentration. Only $20 though so if you're remotely interested I think it's worth picking up.

Most fun I've had playing a game in a long time. Both the single player and the seamlessly integrated multiplayer are fantastic. Feeling of pure speed is awesome.

Amazing, fun party game that's great with three friends or rocking the drums solo. Everyone with a Xbox 360 or a PS3 needs this game.

The best Mario game since Mario 64. If you have a Wii and don't own this game there's something desperately wrong with you. Great for all gamers, from kids to hard core to soccer moms.

Halo 3 beta

May 29, 2007 at 10:01 PM

I've been playing the Halo 3 mulitplayer beta as much as humanly possible since it was released. I had actually convinced myself I wouldn't buy the game when it's released (September 2007) but this short time with the game has really renewed my interest in it. A definite buy that I'll spend a ton of time.

I'm actually not completely terrible at it anymore. w00t!!

Super Paper Mario

One of the games I was most interested in this year, especially on the Nintendo Wii. Fantastic fun for the first 5 or 6 worlds but got really boring after that. It was almost a chore to finish off the game. Way too much boring dialog. A disappointment only because I had such high expectation, but worth playing for any Wii owner.

Incredibly fun game for the Xbox 360. Sandbox game with virtually no story and barely any objectives other than blow kill bad guys, blow stuff up, and collect orbs.

Gears of War

December 22, 2006 at 06:05 PM

One of the best games I've played in a long time. Gears of War may have the best graphics of any current game (there's some sweet looking stuff coming next year though) and the gameplay is great fun as well. Not a perfect game, but the audio, graphics, and gameplay add up to an excellent killing experience.

Dead Rising

October 20, 2006 at 05:56 PM

An incredibly fun game... for a while. Dead Rising gets repetitive pretty quickly and the save system is flat out broken. I shouldn't have to completely start the game over because I spent an extra 5 minutes killing zombies, because whacking zombies is an absolute blast. The game could have been one of my all time favorites but the many bugs and other problems made me give up on the game long before I beat it.

MVP 2006 NCAA Baseball

January 22, 2006 at 09:16 PM

Fun so far, the new load and fire hitting system is going to take some getting used to but I like it. I've been playing the hitting minigame just to get better and even that's fun. I can't believe they used the rosters from last year, what a huge mistake. Imagine the uproar if they used the old rosters in their NCAA Football games, I don't know what they were thinking.

I finally got my hands on the game. Of course it was at 7 a.m. on the day of it's scheduled relesae, but i wanted it early dangit! So far so bueno. I'm having trouble passing because I'm a little rusty, but it's definitely an improvement over last years game.

Somebody please remind that I can't play first-person shooters.

Rented it from Blockbuster using one of my 2 free coupons I get a month, pretty smart idea considering I get to keep it for almost 14 days thanks to no late fees. Something I'll do more often with the games I know I won't play a ton. I'm not too far, but other than the motion sickness it's a fun game.

A good game with a lot of flaws. MVP Baseball is fun but could have been much better with up-to-date rosters and online play. As it is now, it's an enjoyable baseball game that will get old fast unless you have friends to play with within your LAN.

NBA Street V3

Somehow I managed to have never played a single minute of the first two iterations of NBA Street, despite always being interested. Well Christina got me V3 for Valentine's Day and I'm loving it. So far so good. It's fun, challenging, and the graphics look great. It's actually pulled me away from GTA San Andreas.

I finally broke down and bought it this weekened. Okay, I used Reward Zone certificates and gift cards but that still counts.

So far so good, really fun. First thing I noticed is how much more vulgar it is than the GTA 3 and and Vice City. There really wasn't too much bad language in those, but now every other word is f***. It actually seems to be more realistic because of it.

The music is awesome as usual.

Sonic Mega Collection Plus

Rating: 4/5

Get it from Amazon.com!

For the price ($20), you can't really go wrong with the Mega Collection. You get twenty different Sonic titles, so there's plenty of gameplay there. Check out IGN's review.

I never really played the games when they were first released, so it's been fun to finally get the chance to. But the best part is watching Christina play them. I've tried again and again to get her into gaming, but she's just not dexterous enough. Sonic only requires using the analog stick and one button. Even she can handle that! So cute.

Halo 2

Read my full review!

Screw it. I'm jumping on the bandwagon for better or worse. I own the original Halo and have probably played a grand total of an hour of it, but now I'm feeling the urge to get Halo 2. I hate first person shooters, but the multiplayer on Xbox Live sounds awesome and it's calling my name. SOCOM was badass online, and it wasn't even that great of a game.

Hmmmm...

Update: I got it and I've been playing a little. The first thirty minutes I played I was already feeling sick. I think it's actually the level type that bothers me. Both Halo and now Halo 2 start inside a cramped space station. I played split screen with C last night and had no issues when playing the outdoor maps.

The Sims 2

I broke down and bought the game last night. What can I say? I'm weak.

Played it for a couple hours already, mainly just screwing around. It was fun designing your Sims, they really have a ton of physical options so you can do your best to make them look like someone. I made myself and Mandy Moore and then set out on building our life together.

Turns out it's just like real life, I can barely handle one life let alone two. I'll restart the game tonight and become a bachelor, I'll have to win Mandy's love the hard way.

The world's best football game. Probably not better than Madden, but definitely more fun. There's nothing better than taking the Texas Longhorns and leading them to the National Championship. Then in the offseason, recruiting is almost worth being it's own game.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

June 25, 2004 at 11:42 AM

Awesome, awesome game.

I have to admit I never played the original Prince of Persia way back in the day so when news of this game first came out I hardly noticed. That's why it took me so long to buy it and play it. But as I started reading about the new sequel, I looked more at this game and read some reviews and decided to get it off of eBay. Paid less than twenty bucks for what has become one of my favorite games of recent years.

Rating: 5/5

Get it from Amazon.com!

Beautiful graphics, fun gameplay, difficult puzzles, and awesome animation just make this game great. The animation during the fights is amazing, probably the best I've seen. The flow from one move to the next is flawless, it looks and feels great. My only disappointment is that there's not more fighting. Supposedly The Warrior Within will be a little more action-oriented, I can't wait.
