Xbox 360?

February 04, 2005 at 02:19 PM

Still just rumor, but it looks like the next Xbox may be called the Xbox 360. Wonder if that is a reference to some technology or just a big number?

February 03, 2005 at 02:12 PM

Sweet. Looks like I'll be picking up my brand new PSP on March 24th. I hope since I pre-ordered ages ago I'm considered one of the first million and get Spidey 2 for free.

TiVo's Home Media Engine launched

January 31, 2005 at 08:52 AM

TiVo has officially launched the Home Media Engine SDK. The kit will allow developers to write their own software to be run on TiVo boxes, things like RSS news feeds and weather updates won't be far behind.

Should be some exciting stuff coming out soon for TiVo owners.

Firefox Bookmarks Synchronizer

January 26, 2005 at 10:44 AM
Bookmarks Synchronizer

Really cool Firefox extension if you've got a web host somewhere. It allows you to keep your bookmarks synchronized by uploading an XML data file of your bookmarks everytime you make a change. Then everytime you open Firefox it quickly downloads that file and syncs up your favorites. Exceedingly useful.

Google Video Search

January 25, 2005 at 08:31 AM

I just found out about Google Video Search, I'm not sure how long it's been around but this is the first I'd heard about it.

Pretty dang cool upon first glance. They're only grabbing a few Bay Area and national channels, but it looks like they have plans to expand to other markets. Check out the help page to find out a lot more.

Definitely something I'll be following as it grows.

Update: Want more Texas Longhorn videos? Check out BevoSports.com!

Basecamp Project Management

January 19, 2005 at 03:30 PM
Basecamp logo

An amazing piece of software. I have heard people (including the creators) talking about Basecamp for a long time now, but I had never noticed there was a free version before. The free version only lets you manage one project at a time, but otherwise it's the full blown app.

Basecamp lets you track a project's major milestons, create to-do lists, send messages, share files, and pretty much everything else you could think of. You even get a unique URL where everyone related to the project can interact and work together.

Ta-da Lists

January 19, 2005 at 03:18 PM
Ta-da Lists: A part of Basecamp

Really, really handy little web app here. It's like a million times better version of an idea I was wanting to do with PHP, which kinda pisses me off because that's how I wanted to work on my PHP skills. Oh well.

Ta-da List makes it really easy to create, manage, and share a bunch of lists. A really simple, yet powerful task management system. The only thing missing that I'd like is due dates.

I'm going to do a full weblog post on this and Basecamp soon.

Asthma bong for kids

January 18, 2005 at 02:55 PM

It's actually a decent idea, make asthma inhalers more cool for kids to use. I'm not really sure that the Funhaler does that though. Which would be more embarassing, using a normal inhaler or puffing on this thing?

UT student sued over spam

January 13, 2005 at 08:44 PM

Wow, I should spam people. These people have made hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars through this scheme. How many morons are there actually out there that fall for spam?

The dumbest part is that the article says you should look for a Web page to submit contact information. Ummm, all that would do is confirm you're a real sucker and they have your real email address.

Longhorn May Blend Tablet PC, Media Center

January 13, 2005 at 10:40 AM

Hopefully this is true, but it sounds like Microsoft is thinking about adding the Media Center and Tablet PC features into Longhorn. That would make having a Windows-based laptop very cool.

Sony PSP TV is coming

January 11, 2005 at 08:19 AM

Holy crap this is cool. Sony already released LocationFree TV, and now they're bringing the technology to laptops and the PSP. So you'll be able to stream television across your network to your PSP. That's incredible.

TiVo at CES

January 08, 2005 at 07:08 PM

PVRblog has a great write up on all the announcements TiVo has made at this week's CES.

Some more details on TiVoToGo but not nothing too new, what really interests me is the news on the standalone HDTivo. It'll have dual tuners and dual cable-cards (which means no need for a cable box), but isn't scheduled for release until 2006. Hopefully I'll have either moved by then or Grande will have burned to the ground.

Grande sucks.
