Rivals.com is out of NCAA Football 2006

May 24, 2005 at 11:00 PM

I saw a rumor over at Operation Sports this morning that the deal between Rivals.com and EA Sports had fallen through. It looks like the rumors are true, as I got confirmation from a Rivals exec who said, We were informed that we wouldn't be in the game after all. That's what we know. Sounds like EA has told them the deal is off but they have not been told why. Originally, NCAA Football... Continue reading

I hate the biased sports media

May 03, 2005 at 07:18 AM

More of this crap again this year? At least last year, the media waited until the Astros seemed to be out of it in mid-July before declaring they should just give away all their good players to a team in a major market in the northeast. The article claims the Astros are so awful that they have no choice but to unload Roger Clemens to a team that is a true contender like the Yankees.... Continue reading

My MLB 2005 Predictions: National League Edition

April 11, 2005 at 09:38 PM

Busy, busy, busy lately, so my National League picks took a while to get done. Maybe since I've seen a few games they'll actually be a little more accurate, I doubt it. Starting off with the easy one, the NL East... Atlanta Florida (Wild Card winner) Washington Philadelphia New York Mets First and second were pretty easy to choose, after all the Braves have won thirty-seven division titles in a row. Florida has a... Continue reading

My MLB 2005 predictions: American League Edition

April 05, 2005 at 03:00 PM

With the real Opening day finally here (both the Braves and the Astros play their first games today), I thought I'd post my predictions for this year's Major League Baseball season. This way I can come back in October and see how smart I was, or maybe wasn't. Let's start with the American League East, home of the only two teams the media thinks exist: Boston New York (Wild Card winner) Toronto Tampa Bay... Continue reading

Playing tennis while high

April 01, 2005 at 02:34 PM

Despite the fact that I don't really care about tennis, I thought this was way too cool not to post. Andre Agassi and Roger Federer played a friendly tennis match atop the Burj Al Arab Hotel helicopter pad in Dubai. The pictures are really amazing, I'd have been scared to death. A big gust of wind knock your butt right off the top. There's nets on the edges, but still. Very cool. (via 37signals)... Continue reading

10 ideas on how to give the NHL a tune-up

March 29, 2005 at 01:52 PM

ESPN writer John Buccigross has some good ideas to improve the game of hockey and give the NHL a tune up. Most of them sound reasonable, but here's my list of changes I think the league should consider: Every game in high definition No more ice, play it on grass Increase number of players on each team from 6 to 11 Convert nets to large Y-shaped vertical structures Buy out Grande, dissolve it, give... We're number 65!!

March 22, 2005 at 07:35 AM

With my bracked screwed beyond all hope of respectability and Texas one and done in March Madness, I thought I would post some college sports notes that conveniently mock my good friends at Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Aggies proud to be in the NIT Yeah, yeah. We lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but at least we were in the damn thing. The Aggies appear to be quite proud of themselves... Congress to subpoena Sosa, McGwire, others

March 09, 2005 at 08:24 AM

Seven current and former major leaguers will be subpoenaed by a congressional committee to testify about steroids. Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi (see my conspiracy theory on the A's), Curt Schilling, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, and Frank Thomas will all be called to testify about steroids in front of the House Government Reform Committee. At first I didn't see the importance in this, but after listening to a lawyer on the Mike &... Continue reading

Aggies like sheep

February 17, 2005 at 10:55 AM

The Longhorn fans are at it again, dressed up and mocking A&M. This time was even funnier. He even had a sign that said Baaaaah means no! Silly Aggies and their animal lovin'. I really don't know what to say about the guy in the gorilla suit, the giant orange foam novelty hat is a nice touch though. I miss being a college student.... Continue reading

Ryan Perrilloux is a punk

February 03, 2005 at 07:29 AM

Update: Ryan Perrilloux has been kicked off the team, his career at LSU is over. Jesus. How do you know when Ryan Perrilloux is lying? His lips are moving. In case you didn't know, he picked LSU yesterday after claiming to our coaches just a couple days ago that he was still very much committed to the Horns. He claimed in one interview that he decided to switch to LSU in the last days, only... Continue reading

Orange Bowl halftime

January 04, 2005 at 09:32 PM

Wow, that was pretty painful. The Orange Bowl halftime show consisted of Kelly Clarkson, Trace Adkins, and Ashlee Simpson. Clarkson was decent aside for one moment when someone in her band decided they should sing louder than she was, it sounded like me singing. Adkins is just a poor man's Toby Keith, which is pretty pathetic. Keith was even at the game because he's a redneck Sooner fan and they couldn't get him. The best... Continue reading

Texas wins the Rose Bowl!!

January 02, 2005 at 11:16 AM

Texas beat the Michigan Wolverines 38 - 37 last night to win the 2005 Rose Bowl. It was an amazing game by Vince Young and the offense who overcame absolutely horrible special teams play and average play by the defense. Vince rushed for 192 yards and four touchdowns, threw for 180 yards and another TD, and led Texas down the field to set up a 37 yard game winning field goal by Dusty Mangum.... Continue reading
