2005 Red River Rivalry

October 10, 2005 at 08:58 PM

Christina and I took a ton off shots of this weekend’s Texas/OU game. We have 64 photos of The State Fair, pregame warmups, in game action, and the some great shots of the victory celebration. There’s a classic shot of Will Winston waving the big Longhorn flag while Kasey Studdard is congratulated by a very grateful cheerleader. Nice to see the big guys having some fun in more ways than one. By the way,... Continue reading

Hurricane relief is serious, but this is still funny...

September 26, 2005 at 07:07 PM

When the league held its fundraising telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims last Monday, one of the operators taking phone calls was former Raiders lineman and coach Art Shell. At one point during the evening, the phone at his station rang. He picked it up. NFL Hurricane Relief, this is Art Shell, he answered. Raiders SUCK!' said a guy, who promptly hung up. I was thinking the same thing when I saw some of the players... Continue reading

Texas beats Ohio State!

September 11, 2005 at 12:09 AM

Texas just beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 25 to 22, I live blogged the entire game over at Bevo Sports. Huge road victory for the Horns over the number four team in the country. The Horns had to fight through some mistakes and didn't play their best game, but with the game on the line in the fourth quarter Vince Young and the defense stepped up. First the good. We just beat the #4... Continue reading

Is Lance Armstrong thinking comeback?

September 05, 2005 at 11:27 PM

According to Lance himself in the Austin-American Statesman he is. I'm thinking about it, Armstrong said. I'm thinking it's the best way to piss (the French) off. I think the French's drug accusations on blood tested six years after the fact are backfiring, now he's going to come back and kick their asses again. Update: Looks like he won't be coming back after all.... Continue reading

2005 NCAA Football Top 25 Poll

September 02, 2005 at 07:20 AM

With the college football season finally getting underway, it's time for me to post my preaseason top 25 teams. This is just my initial gut feelings on each team based on how good I think they'll be and just as importantly on what their schedule looks like. Some of them don't match up at all with the other preseason polls, but this is where I think they're going to finish the season. Southern Cal Texas... Continue reading

College football needs a playoff

August 30, 2005 at 06:30 PM

Editor's note: Bobby Burton of Rivals.com has a birthday wish today, to air his thoughts on the ridiculousness that is the lack of a playoff system in NCAA Division 1 football. His thoughts echo mine and most sports fans pretty damn well. Feel free to pass this on... Today is my birthday - I'm 36 today. Or, as my dad put it this morning, I'm halfway home. But before I reach "home," there is a... Continue reading

Latest steroid rumor

August 18, 2005 at 07:56 PM

Rumors are flying all over the place that two baseball superstars have tested positive for steroids and are going through the system. Reportedly, they're almost through the appeals process and their names will be released in the next couple of days. However, one of the two names that are floating to the top of the list is Roger freaking Clemens. Roger isn't a superstar, he's a legend. He's probably one of the top 3 pitchers... Continue reading

Rafael Palmeiro will be a Hall of Famer

July 03, 2005 at 10:07 AM

I know it's not exactly new news, but Skip Bayless is a moron. Anyone that can actually argue that Rafael Palmeiro doesn't deserve in the Hall of Fame because he's an average player, is either completely clueless or just a complete ass. Palmeiro has been one of the best and most consistent players over the last 20 years. 563 home runs and counting, 8 hits shy of 3000, and a .289 career batting average.... Continue reading

Kenny Rogers implodes

June 30, 2005 at 03:36 PM

In case you missed it, Kenny Rogers went berserk yesterday and attacked two different TV cameramen before a Rangers game. From the video and eyewitness reports, the first cameraman was filming the entire team coming out of the clubhouse and onto the field. Apparently Mr. Rogers took offense to that and shoved the camera out of his hands. It got worse. Rogers then went out of his way several yards to attack Larry Rodriguez... Continue reading

Tony + Manu = Love

June 24, 2005 at 02:47 PM

Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are taking team chemistry to a whole new level. I don't know what the rules are in France and Argentina, but this is probably overdoing things just a bit. (via Orangebloods)... Continue reading

I can't stand watching basketball

June 23, 2005 at 10:03 PM

I had no idea that hammering Tim Duncan on the arm everytime he goes up for a shot was classified as great defense. NBA officiating makes the game impossible to watch, they call ticky-tack crap away from the ball but let you assault the big guys when they're trying to shoot. It's not biased, it's just terrible.... Video game to help decide real life baseball game

June 22, 2005 at 11:22 AM

A game between the independent Kansas City T-Bones and the Schaumburg Flyers will begin virtually with two innings on the Xbox instead of out in the field. Two contest winners will play MVP Baseball 2005 with created teams for two innings, and the score after that match-up will carry over to the real game when the two actual teams take the field. The T-Bones (great name by the way) are the ones creating the... Continue reading
