IGN gives Grand Theft Auto 4 perfect 10

April 26, 2008 at 12:43 AM

Only a few more days to wait... Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out April 29th and I'll have it in my hands soon after. The first review is up online and IGN.com has given the game a perfect 10. The first time in many years that they've handed out that score. Definitely the most excited I've been about playing a game in a long while. Go read the seven page written review or watch the... My Xbox 360 is dead

October 01, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Picked up a copy of Halo 3 at lunch today. Got home tonight and the wife was out so I thought I'd pop it in and get a rare half hour of game time in. I unwrap the game, check out the manual for a bit, and then excitedly put the game in my Xbox 360 to play for a few minutes before dinner. The game comes up and I spend about 30 seconds looking... DirecTV Adds Eleven New HD Channels for Fall

May 30, 2007 at 07:57 AM

In about a week I'll have DirecTV HD so the news that DirecTV is adding 11 new HD channels this fall is pretty exciting for me. The 11 this fall aren't too exciting, but there's more on the way after that look even better. This fall the Discovery Channel is launching Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and The Science Channel all in beautiful high definition. There will also be five Starz channels that I won't... Alanis Morissette covers "My Humps"

April 03, 2007 at 09:41 PM

One of the funniest things I've seen/heard in a long time, Alanis Morissette covering Fergie's terrible song "My Humps": Funny stuff. No matter how many times I watch it I still crack up. I knew the lyrics in that song were bad, but I didn't realize they were this bad. It's incredible that someone with as little musical talent has had a career in music as long as Stacy Ferguson.... Sony unveils PlayStation Home

March 08, 2007 at 07:39 AM

Yesterday Sony unveiled Home, their blend of Second Life, Xbox 360 Achievements, and Nintendo Mii's for the PlayStation 3. Looks incredibly cool and is one of the first things (other than Final Fantasy XIII) that has me taking a serious look at the PS3. Get more details from IGN and check out the short demo below:... Apple iPhone announced

January 11, 2007 at 09:51 PM

Apple announced the new iPhone at Tuesday's MacWorld keynote (live blog from Engadget or just the photos) and I must have one. The thing is incredible looking and pretty darn powerful too. It's a cool cellphone, widescreen iPod, and an Internet device. No buttons, everything is done through a sleek touchscreen interface. The full blown Safari browser on the phone actually looks incredibly useful (unlike most mobile browsers.) Includes a 4 or 8 GB... Continue reading

I've got a Wii!!

January 01, 2007 at 05:32 PM

Last week Christina called me at work to let me know she'd spent $250 on her lunch break. I didn't know what she could have possibly purchased since we just had Christmas and there wasn't really anything we needed. But there was something I'd wanted! She had stumbled upon a shipment of Nintendo Wii's being stocked at Target and had quickly grabbed one before the word got out. She had tried to no avail... Continue reading

My Gift This Christmas... A Special Christmas Box

Is Lost a Repeat?

May 15, 2006 at 09:23 PM

PC Magazine Peerflix review

April 26, 2006 at 10:09 PM

PC Magazine has a review of Peerflix up and gives the service a 3.5 out of 5. If you don't like what you bought, you can always trade it away for something better. The downside? The selection is spotty; it's a bit of the chicken-and-egg problem. The more people use it, the better it will get, but right now, Peerflix is missing a lot of popular movies. By "missing" I mean that although they're in... Continue reading

TiVo Camouflage

April 15, 2006 at 11:11 AM

Hilarious question posed to Bill Simmons' latest mailbag on ESPN.com this week: Q: I love TiVo, but why can't I change the name of my saved shows? In the days of the video, I could tape what I want, change the name to "Broncos Highlights -- 1994" and rest assured my wife would never look at it. Some really funny movie posters over at Something Awful with more accurate movie titles for some great and terrible movies. Collateral is now Good Movie, Sh***y Ending and King Kong is Too Long. The Loop

March 17, 2006 at 08:51 PM

TV Squad has a pretty spot on comment about Fox's new comedy, The Loop: The Loop is one of those shows that can seem kinda funny if you don't watch an entire episode. If you were to just turn on FOX 5, 10, or 20 minutes into the show, you're bound to hit upon a clever line or a funny scenario. The American Idol girls suck

February 21, 2006 at 08:14 PM

Apparently the judges must have chosen the 12 female finalists with something other than their ears. A lot of attractive girls that can't sing a lick. They must have picked them based on cup size. Over and over again the judges are complimenting how they look and their stage presence, they seem to think that's of equal importance to how well they can sing. They're all really terrible. Tone deaf. My picks for the... Continue reading

Hands-On with PlayStation 3

February 13, 2006 at 10:28 PM

Xbox fanboys sure took this Playstation 3 hands-on from Kikizo Games as some sort of victory. The only major negative quote is that they say the Playstation 3 is a machine barely superior to Xbox 360 after playing games from one developer that are so still half a ear from being finished. Really difficult to make any real conclusions based on that. This is essentially like someone playing Amped 3 when it was 50%... Continue reading

Undelete shows from your TiVO

January 26, 2006 at 08:04 AM

I never thought about it, but it makes sense. When you delete a show off of your TiVo it doesn't actually immediately remove it from the hard drive, it just removes it from your list of shows and will record over that space when necessary. Because of this, TiVo will soon add the ability to retrieve recently deleted shows. Want to get a show back you deleted yesterday? Scroll down to the Recently Deleted... Continue reading

The Simpsons Season 6 alternative packaging

December 31, 2005 at 03:29 PM

The Simpsons - The Complete Sixth Season is packed into a case that looks like Homer's head. It's actually nice looking but just doesn't match the other seasons at all and doesn't look good from the side while sitting on the shelf. Why aren't there any sitcoms anymore?

September 20, 2005 at 07:58 PM

We've finally seen a slight decrease in the number of horrible reality shows on television (or maybe at least there are fewer new ones coming this season.) There were even several great dramas last season like Lost and 24. This season looks promising too, I'll definitely be checking out Invasion tomorrow when it premieres. Review: MVP Baseball for the PSP

June 03, 2005 at 07:45 PM

MVP Baseball for the PSP is a good but not great game and the majority of reviews agree. The game's release date was pushed back several times, but a lot of flaws (some glaring) remain. A lot of untapped potential that will hopefully make next year's iteration of the game a great one. The gameplay and graphics are pretty decent, though I'm still getting used to hitting with the PSP's analog stick. I had... Continue reading

Homer's story of Achilles and the Trojan War, the Iliad, is known throughout the world, but movies about the tale have thus far only been of the television variety. Wolfgang Petersen's Troy attempts to be an epic in the Gladiator mold but in the end comes up short. Poor casting and a slow start doom the movie. It recovers slightly as the film goes along, but can never quite overcome it's beginnings. It's probably... Continue reading

Paul Anka hurts my ears

May 25, 2004 at 07:58 PM

This is absolutely painful and embarassing. Paul Anka has sold his soul for probably like $20 and 3 minutes of exposure. Wow that was bad. Change the lyrics of your thirty year old song with American Idol words. It reminds me of when "Billy Mack" sings Christmas is All Around in Love Actually: I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes, Christmas is all around me, and so the feeling grows... Didn't Fantasia wear that last week?

May 25, 2004 at 07:00 PM

Is it just me or is that exactly the same top Fantasia wore either last week or the week before. If it's not, it's REALLY similar. Edit: Okay, I just checked and last week's outfit was a "dress" that where the upper half had same fit and look.... Continue reading

This just in... Mandy Moore is hot

May 18, 2004 at 10:17 PM

Holy crap Mandy Moore gets better looking every damn day. She started off cute, then got really pretty, and now she's absolutely freaking smoking. Andy Roddick must really be kicking himself right now. At the same premiere, Lindsay Lohan further spiraled into superwhoredom. She's only 17 but she's hanging out with Paris Hilton (queen of Skankonia) and her boobs are out more and more with every picture you see. There's a ton of them out... Continue reading

La Toya London is nothing special

May 12, 2004 at 09:09 PM

Shut up with all the whining and outrage about La Toya London being voted off American Idol tonight. Yes she's been good and no she wasn't the worst out of the remaining four contestants, but she's not that great either. She is a good singer and decent performer, but there is absolutely nothing special about her. She has nothing unique about her at all. Fantasia Barrino has a very unique voice (maybe too unique, I... There is a God!

April 28, 2004 at 08:31 PM

John Stevens was FINALLY voted off American Idol tonight. He's been a big red blemish on the show's chin since the beginning. He sounds like a mediocre 1950's lounge singer and dances like a drunk paraplegic. I vowed to never watch again if he had made it past tonight. He had a unique style that might have deserved to be in the like top 20, but there was no way he should have made... Continue reading

Review: Gothika

April 28, 2004 at 11:14 AM

Rating: 3.5/5Get it from Amazon.com! Very good movie. It wasn't really a horror movie like I was expecting, but more of supernatural thriller. That's a good thing. Halle Berry plays a psychologist at a prison/mental institution who suddenly wakes up as a patient at her own facility. She spends the whole movie trying to discover what's happened and convince people of her innocence. It's well acted, 90% of the movie is focused on Halle (not... Continue reading

Review: Kill Bill Vol. 2

April 24, 2004 at 11:29 PM

Rating: 4/5Get it from Amazon.com! Another good movie. Well another good half of a movie, since it doesn't really stand on it's own. I liked this one a little better than the first, it had more of a storyline and more comedy to go with about the same amount of action. There was only one part that I didn't like. Bleep's training was lame, it seemed like a 1970's kung fu movie, only without the... Continue reading

Review: Kill Bill Vol. 1

April 24, 2004 at 10:29 PM

Rating: 4.5/5Get it from Amazon.com! Great movie. Watched it on DVD the other night and enjoyed it a lot. Wasn't really sure what to expect, I originally had no urge to watch it. It seemed pretty stupid in the previews. But Christina liked it, so I bought the DVD for her. There's not too many dull moments, the action comes early and often. Uma Thurman does a surprisingly good job in an action role. It... Continue reading

In what universe is Barry Manilow a legend?

April 20, 2004 at 09:25 PM

Another American Idol show tonight, another random ass pseudo-celebrity guest host. They repeatedly called Barry Manilow a legend and a superstar, and as the night went on I realized I only know a single song of his. I know his name very well, I think everyone does. But what has he done, at least in the last 30 years? The only song I know at all is Mandy, but the only reason I know it... Continue reading

That's not your mother, it's a man, baby!

April 08, 2004 at 09:18 AM

Okay so these commercials have been freaking me out for a couple weeks. It's not near as creepy as the Quizno's ferret fetuses, but it's definitely been weirding me out. It only comes on the Style Network and it's for one of their shows, The Brini Maxwell Show. At first Ms. Maxwell just seems odd, but after seeing the commercial comes on a few more times I started to notice something. Ms. Maxwell is... Continue reading

Review: In the Cut

March 20, 2004 at 08:02 PM

Not a bad drama, although it did piss me off several times. Meg Ryan (Franny Thorstin) plays a bit of a nitwit. The typical female victim, she's always following unquestioningly into obvious danger. Walk through the ghetto all alone in the middle of the night? Sounds great! A strange man wants to take me in his car into the middle of the woods? Sure, why not? Are there women in the world that are... Continue reading

Breaking news...

March 17, 2004 at 05:46 PM

In a wonderful terrible turn of world events, Mandy Moore and Andy Roddick have broken up. You heard it hear first unless you were watching SportsCenter just now. I can't believe it finally happened, I'm so freaking excited dissapointed. I really thought they would make it. It's a damn glorious day shame, I really thought those two kids would make it.... Review: School of Rock

March 10, 2004 at 01:19 AM

Watched School of Rock in class today, man I love teaching. No wait, I freaking can't stand it that's why I'm blowing it off and just showing movies. I really don't understand though how these stupid kids manage to be annoying and complain even on movie day. Just shut up and sleep if you don't like it. Argh. The movie is pretty good, I wanted to see it when it was in theaters but... Continue reading

Review: A Walk to Remember

March 09, 2004 at 01:16 AM

Rating: 2.5/5Get it from Amazon.com! Okay, I made fun of it a lot during the movie and I probably will take a lot of shots at it in this review, but honestly A Walk to Remember wasn't that bad. I mean it wasn't great and it was corny sometimes, but at least it was a good story and well acted. Mandy Moore (Jamie Sullivan) plays a girl dying of leukemia who is the stereotypical quiet,... Review: Passion of the Christ

March 06, 2004 at 01:06 AM

I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but I came away from watching The Passion of the Christ with a lot of dissapointment. It was a good movie, but not as earth-shattering or shocking as I had been lead to believe. The reviews and uproar made it seem like it was going to be some sort of life changing event. It was a well shot, well acted, and accurate depiction of Christ's life,... Continue reading

Review: Underworld

February 23, 2004 at 01:00 AM

Not a bad movie, but certainly wasn't a very good one either. There was surprisingly little action considering it's a vampires vs. werewolves movie. Or maybe the action just wasn't very memorable. The story itself is pretty decent: an ancient war between the two species is continuing into modern times and we find out the origins of the war as well a possible conclusion. Definitely open for a sequel. Rating: 3/5Get it from Amazon.com!... Continue reading

Review: Angels and Demons

February 19, 2004 at 12:50 AM

Great, great, great book! I may have even liked this more than the Da Vinci Code, maybe it's because I'm not overly interested in art. Someone who really likes art would probably like that one more. I liked the female lead character (Vittoria Vetra) better in Angels and Demons, she added more to the story that Sophie Neveu. Plus I found the ambigrams really cool. It was paced really well and had a good... Continue reading

Review: Catch Me If You Can

February 19, 2004 at 12:43 AM

Watched Catch Me If You Can last night and I was really surprised by the movie. It looked interesting but I never had much urge to see it and I didn't think it was going to be great. It was pretty good though, real interesting story and plot twists. Leonardo DiCaprio (Frank Abagnale Jr.) did a really good job and Tom Hanks (Carl Hanratty) was excellent as usual. The best part was probably the... Continue reading

Review: Alex and Emma

February 13, 2004 at 12:38 PM

Rating: 1/5Get it from Amazon.com! Remind me again to NEVER let Christina choose the movie to rent. Or, at the very least, make sure that I actually read the Netflix reviews of it first. Holy crap was that a bad movie, 92 minutes of bad dialogue and an asinine plot. Pretty freaking predictable too. Kate Hudson didn't even look good in the movie, what's the point of her being in it at all then? Luke... Continue reading
