Nike and Apple team up for Nike+

May 27, 2006 at 04:15 PM

Incredibly cool new set of products from Nike and Apple coming soon. Insert a sensor into a pair of specially designed Nike+ tennis shoes, attach a receiver to your iPod nano, and then the two measure your activity. The iPod nano's screen gives you important information such as time, distance, pace, and calories burnder, and you'll hear workout-based voice feedback through your headphones as you exercise. You'll be able to purchase special Sport iMixes with great workout music from the iTunes store and it looks like they have Coaching Mixes coming as well, which I assume are music mixed with some instruction from personal trainers. After your run, sync your iPod with you Mac or PC and your workout details are tracked in iTunes and on Nikeplus.com.

Watch the Flash video on the Nike+ landing page and you'll get a good idea of the cool features this partnership could bring. If you're a runner and already own an iPod nano, this is definitely a set of products that could improve your workout.
