Review: Jersey Girl
The first thing you should know about Jersey Girl is that it was written and directed by Kevin Smith. Okay, now forget I ever told you that. If you go into this movie expecting a classic Kevin Smith film such as Mallrats and Chasing Amy, you are going to be immensely disappointed. Jersey Girl is a good movie, but it's not a good Kevin Smith movie. The movie has a cute (see, not exactly... Continue reading

Reesey is a wuss
Christina and I took Reesey to the dog park yesterday for the first time. Since Reesey pretty much only sees the two of us she doesn't get many chances to interact with other people or animals, so we thought it would be good for her to get out and socialize. She was scared to death the entire time. The park has two separate sections based on dog size, the small dog part has a weight... Continue reading

Review: The Ladykillers
The Ladykillers is a movie that confused and intrigued me from the very first preview I saw. I wanted to see it when it came out in theaters, but not so bad that I ever actually got around to it. Considering I didn't really know what to expect out of the movie, it actually turned out to be exactly what I expected. What the hell does that mean? It means the movie itself is... Continue reading

ESPN Motion for Firefox and Mac
Earlier this week Mike Davidson announced ESPN Motion for Mac was being released, and cheers were heard around the world. There was however many questions on why if Mac Motion was made possible "by utilizing Flash MX video and plenty of fancy DHTML and CSS goodness," why wasn't it available for the non-IE PC users out there. But Mike was noncommittal, saying he couldn't comment and that we'd have to wait and see. I waited.... Continue reading

What does John Kerry stand for?
I've got no idea what John Kerry's opinion on anything is. Does he have plans for this country? Does anyone know what they are? Everything out of his mouth is "Bush did this wrong" or "I wouldn't have done it that way," but I've never heard him say "We should do it this way." Does he have any clue what he's going to do if he actually wins the damn thing?... Continue reading

Christina is a FOB (but I still love her)
It's weird. As much "culture" as I received at UT, I sometimes forget that not everyone grew up like me. I found out last night that Christina had never had Taco Cabana until she met me. In fact she had never even had a tortilla until I introduced her to the wonderful world that is Tex-Mex.... Continue reading

More abductions in Iraq
Two Americans and a Britain were kidnapped by gunmen Thursday. I have so many problems with this, enough is enough. What in the hell are civilians still during in this freaking country? Get the hell out and get the hell out now. There's no reason good enough. If your job sent you, find another job. The place is a crap hole and a death trap, especially if you're a freaking American. How many people have... Continue reading

DirecTV to add 1500 HD channels
According to Gizmodo, DirecTV is planning to launch new satellites in order to add 1,500 HD channels by 2007. Two satellites are launching next year and two more in 2007. No, this doesn't mean I'll have to turn to channel 1244 to watch ESPN6 HD. What it means is that they're actually going to be able to broadcast local channels in HD in whatever market you're in. Cable's ability to give you the local... Continue reading

Bush memos a forgery?
The memos reported by CBS's 60 Minutes claiming President Bush ignored a direct order from a superior officer and lost his status as a Guard pilot now appear to have been crude forgeries. Read this post from PowerLine that started all the questioning yesterday morning. Lots of interesting updates there including this one. And read CBS's response. And here is ABC's report where Killian's own family disputes the documents veracity and says, "We don't know... Continue reading

More stock footage? Samsung joins Dell and Gateway
The two ads above were pointed out way back in July by Engadget. Apparently Dell and Gateway used the same stock footage for their back-to-school campaigns. Same girl, same stupid hat and necklace, same everything. Well just now I noticed on ESPN.com that Samsung must've been feeling a little left out, so they decided to use the same exact girl/photo in a small Flash ad for digital cameras. That's some nice work by the... Continue reading

FSU discovers iTunes
In an effort to prevent illegal file sharing on campus, Florida State University is on the verge of finalizing a deal with Apple Computer, Inc. -- a deal that would provide free iTunes software to students and allow them to download music for 99 cents per song. Wow. FSU struck quite the groundbreaking deal with Apple. I guess they were worried they might be confused with a real academic institution and not just a party/football... Continue reading

Nerds against Bush
Apparently web developers do leave the house once in a while, as evidenced by this shot of someone protesting Bush with HTML code. This guy must be a Dreamweaver user or something, because we all know that in proper XHTML all tags must be in lowercase. There's no way his site validates. (From Matt Haughey)... Continue reading
